I had every confidence that Dr. Weissgold could (and did) surgically repair my detached retina (with a tear) very successfully. I am able to ignore his rudeness and lack of bedside manner, but am totally stressed by the 3-4 hour waits at appointments.

We were sent to Weissgold so my mother could have her retina checked for Diabetes. He came in and sat down and said, I won't talk to you until my notes are done, then we can chat. 10 min later...we're still sitting there. He's throwing questions at my mom that she can't answer so I was glad I was there. Very rude towards his patients and his staff. (He was correcting them in front of us..) I felt so bad for them. That is something you do in private or in a staff meeting. Bottom line, the guy has no bedside manner. None. He may have the knowledge, but you have to have the heart to work with the elderly, and he does not have it. The staff were super friendly once I talked with them and gave them 'it's okay to talk..' assurance, It was as if they feared saying anything because they didn't want to get reprimanded. (You could feel the tension when the staff was in the room with the dr.) It was very clean, and I was able to do some work using their guest wifi. The dogs are sweet, and the office does offer coffee and snacks while you wait. Overall, it's not where we want our Mom to go and we will find another avenue to go down.

I have been seeing him for about 3 years, and am delighted that I won't have to see him again. His knowledge of retinas may be exceptional, but his manner is abrupt and distant, and last time I saw him in Dec 2015 he was condescending and downright unpleasant---and this after waiting for over 3 hours---as usual. I was examined by a new PA who, it was later found, botched my exam results. When he finally saw me, he walked into the room and simply announced, "you can no longer drive." He said the law only allows him to notify the patient, then, aggravated by my saying that I HAD to drive the 40 miles to get home (after telling me to get a taxi), he told me that he was faxing his conclusion to my regular eye doctor as well as my physician. He made it clear that he wished he could call the police. I drove straight to my regular doctor and discovered his conclusion was in error. I am SO done with him!

My wait was 4 hours and 30 minutes, and then to have him tell me that he doesn't know what is wrong with my retina added even more to my aggravation. Now he's testing for everything since he doesn't know what is affecting me. This is going to be an expensive endeavor.

Don't over book patients. Waiting now almost 2 hrs and not had eye surgery yet. Considering new eye Dr. If appointments continue this way.
