She SCREAMED at my child 3 mins in the door, and then mis-diagnosed him. She is the worst. Period.

As a young child, I was so unfortunate to have had Dr. Amit as my pediatrician. Every single thing I did she criticized me for. Nothing was ever good enough for her. She constantly commented on my weight and threatened to hospitalize me. When I finally started dieting and exercising she claimed I wasn't taking my insulin so I would lose weight and that if I lost any more weight that way I would be hospitalized. She also claimed I just wanted "attention" or was acting up when I had a serious anxiety disorder. PLEASE do not take your children to her.

Awful experience! She did a basic health check, focused more on his weight than the reason we were there (the two things were not connected), and refused to schedule a follow up because we wouldn’t medicate our son for ADHD (he is performing above grade level academically, does not throw tantrums, and the only reasons she could give for medicating were to make the lives of other easier, not to improve his life). Will not be going back to see her or recommending her to anyone.

We had a very unsatisfactory encounter with Dr. Amit. We were referred for a skin/flushing concern, and she turned it into a negative experience for my child because of their weight. She grilled us on food habits, exercise, etc. Told us to come back in a month to see if there was a skin improvement. We were also dealing with an injury to the knee. We went back for the follow up. Were kept waiting, and finally given a medical student who had to learn about our case all over again. They met behind closed doors, and when we finally got to see Amit, she was less concerned with the skin issue than the weight. I told her, NO, we are not here for weight. I will not have you fat shame my child. Once I said that, she was done with us. I had to tell her to look at the knee, she did quickly, and said for us to call physio. The medical student was no better. I will never, under any circumstances, return to the office of Dr. Amit. She is the worst medical professional I have ever dealt with in my long life. If you are referred to her as we were, ask for another referral.

Dr. Amit has been seeing my child. I feel she doesn't hear me, she diagnosed him and she won't consider all the information.

I sometimes wonder how some doctors managed to get their license. She tries, but, she is in the dark about so many medical issues. If a child is smiling, has a bit of weight on them, well, to her, they must be healthy. She needs to go back to med school.

When my son went to school, he began to have difficulties. His hearing was tested twice by grade two. In the second grade, his teacher decided he had ADHD and insisted he be put on Ritalin. I felt he had a processing disorder. I asked Dr. Amit if she could send him for a Central Auditory Processing test. She refused and insisted on Ritalin. When I refused to put my child on this drug, Dr. Amit became furious. In a letter to my family doctor, she stated that I was my child's main problem and that I felt I knew more than she did even though I was not a physician. I may not have been a doctor but I knew my child and had worked in the field of special education for many years. I needed a second opinion. Another pediatrician, Dr. Michelle Bailey, who actually suggested the processing test when she heard my son's history. On the test he scored poorly and was diagnosed with CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder). Dr. Amit was wrong and refused to admit it.

She tends to be kind of cranky sometimes but saved my life as a child so I can't knock her too hard.
