He has incompetent office help. I had two doctors send referrals. Because they came in on different days they couldn't figure out they were for the same person. I waited and waited, calling each week to see if he had reviewed the referrals only finally to be told he didn't have time to see me. Then two weeks later after seeing another doctor I get a call telling me to come in that day.

He took care of my wife for an eye problem. He ordered every kind of tests and scans possible, even the ones her doctor had already done. Cost us a lot of money and time! In the end, his treatment is exactly the same as the original treatment: wait and see. He doesn't care about your costs, just how to make his life easier and how he can get paid. Anybody can order every possible tests to find the problem, the better doctors should know the specific tests to do.

I had a terrible experience with this doctor. The staff told me the doctor would be able to see me quickly, and it took months to get an appointment. When I finally did get an appointment, I provided original medical records with the explicit direction that I needed the records return. The staff assured me I could get them back. When I went to the office to pick up the records, the staff told me I could not have the records back. This doctor charged me more than $600/hr, AND the staff stole my records. They couldn't make their own copies at that price? Jeez. I'll never go back.

i spelled dr. hershewe's name wrong. i have been seeing him for 15 years. he is the best neuropthamologist in the country with the exception of dr. spector in atlanta . he is certainly bly the top neuropthamologist in the west. he could be at ucla or stanford but he choose to be more like a country doctor rather than going after fame by publishing. his staff is the best in reno. soime peope move to reno for him. he is not perfect he is just a decent human being who want to do the best for his patients who usually have a severe neurological problem. he is very precise. he know more than his sdpecialty. i think he was a family doctor early in his carrer. he attends all the meetings in his field. he is very demanding on his staff-if they cannot please him, they are gone.

Dr. Hershewe listened carefully to my problem and took me seriously. He ordered tests on the spot and reviewed them the same day - rather than having me come back for more and more appointments. Highly recommended. Moving from room to room for the various tests can feel a little hectic, but because the equipment is in different rooms, it can't be avoided.
