Dr.Smith mis-diagnosed my sister with "migraines" and "attention seeking" for 3 years refusing to send her to specialists or for a CAT scan. He constantly perscribed Tylenol for pain relief. Finally my parents got fed up and demanded he refer her to a specialist. When she had her CAT scan the specialist told my parents that she would have been dead within 2 weeks from the enormous brain tumor in her head. She was sent for immediate surgery at IWK hospital where she spent months recovering. Needless to say we switched doctors and have never been happier.

Makes you feel rushed. IMPOSSIBLE to get through on phone. Must ask direct questions to get info - volunteers little info and is not quick to refer to others. But, on the plus side, seems to know his stuff.

Dr. Smith has been my doctor since I was born. I left the province and he still called me regarding my last check up I had there. I find that to be amazing. I know it is hard to get through to him, but that is any doctor, as my doctor where I leave now is even harder. I understand he is leaving but from what I heard is that he did not know the new doctor that was going to take over the practice was going to leave as well. ( I think that is sneaky) I think if it was under different situations he would stay but it is hard to quit a job you wanted a long time and deserve.

Dr. Smith has been my doctor for about 10 years. It's next to impossible to get through by phone, yet when I'm in the office they are not always on the phone.?? I usually drive there just to make an appointment. I am always left feeling like I wasted his time; he once said to me "no one ever died of "the condition I was there to discuss". I feel like my issues are not important and he dismisses them...

Dr. Smith has been my dr since I was a child and is now my sons doctor. I disagree with most of the posts. We rarely go to see him (paritally due to the impossible to penetrate phonelines and partially due to the guilty feeling you get when you see him) He usually tries to convince you that it is nothing and you are fine and gives off the vibe that you are wasting his time. His office also consistantly mixes up my file with others which isn't very confidence building.

On the other hand, Dr. Smith correctly advised us not to have our son's tonsils removed, as it was and is not necessary!

I did not like Dr Smith. Once Dx-ed with FMS, every single thing I went to see him about was "just the FMS". He never investigated anything. I asked for 5 years for him to take my daughters tonsils out because she was getting infection after infection and they were always the size od big strawberries in the back of her throat. It stopped her from being able to eat things unless they were soft, but he refused. First visit to our Dr in Halifax she was referred to an ENT and had to have not only her tonsils but her adnoids as well. I am glad to not have to deal with him any more.

Knows what he's doing and is never a pill pusher so if he gives you something you know you need it
