yes sexologist very incompetent in the field a transition must take time and have a good balance in mental health. I know they request to write comments to belittle the professionals who know what they talk about. A war of customers and money. Dr. Pierre Assalian knows how to reconize a real one and really help.

People who write bad comments about a quality program with people of high competence in the field are influenced by psychotherapists who give important letters after two meetings simply to earn money because the concern for a serious follow-up is not important to them. They asked to make bad comments on the internet. I think the impostor on the ground should not practice this profession, but people like Dr. Pierre Assalian are very skilled.

This doctor is just plain abusive. His questions are irrelevant and inappropriate I suggest you avoid him at all cost. There are others out there to do that job that will treat you far better than him, so stay away from him and find someone else, for your own sake.

Spent three years in his abusive GID clinic. This has delayed my transition by a lot, especially with his association to his endocrinologist Dr. Morris who put me on bogus HRT (Androcur alone) for almost a year. He is condescending to no end and folloews outdated norms that are dangerous to trans people. This guy needs to be brought down.

Went to see him for GID. While the diagnosis went quite well, the treatment recommendation was absolutely NOT up to current standards elsewhere in the world. Basically, he wanted me to spend $500 a month on useless therapy sessions by Christine Dufour. I stopped after 3 sessions because their "program* was not individualized - *but you have to follow our program for a year and then you'll be allowed to go on hormones, and you have to stay in the program until surgery (minimum 2 more years).

When I complained that there was no way I could afford it, Assalian said "if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way. Even people on welfare do it." The only way that could happen is if poor patients sell drugs or sex -desperate people do desperate things to "find a way", which helps explain the fact that male-to-female transsexuals as a group have the highest rate of hiv/AIDS, at 27℅ Canada, 26℅ US.

I dropped outafter 3 sessions. Their claim that only they can prescribe cross-gender hormone therapy is a lie - any gp can, or can refer you to an endocrinologist.

Seriously avoid their clinic. You can obtain everything you need, including the letters of recommendation for surgery, elsewhere.

This clinic has the same problems as CAMH in Ontario - outdated thinking that exploits the patience of the patients for no valid medical reason. No wonder they're no longer the only place able to recommend surgery in either province. Even the government realized that something was wrong with that approach.

Good luck.

I'm not rating Assalian really but his two therapists that run the transgender program, I actually love him as a person, he is funny and never showed to me an ill side or bad look as well as he was very professional in my opinion. This program is not for anyone that wants to wait three years for hormones, they will try to make you wait as long as possible so they can keep making money. The person under could not have put it better when they said "They will delay for months or years access to hormones in order to ensure a steady income for them" because that is basically what you will be doing.

If you want to transition, go to "Head & Hands" on Sherbrooke, they are amazing and will help you and cost nothing in comparison! I even got to skip a waiting list of a year and a half because of them.

Stay away from this Doctor and his staff (Helen Cote and Christiane Dufour) at all costs. The program they run is most similiar to one of those fake abortion clinics. One is required to do biweekly individual and group therapy. Although Dufour and Cote run the group, they do nothing to keep the conversation on transitioning. They expect 20 year old transwomen to dress like 60 year old women going to church on Sunday. They will delay for months or years access to hormones in order to ensure a steady income for them. They will reveal in group therapy confidential information discussed in private therapy. They will do everything they can to convince to not transition. They will lie and say they are the only therapists and psychiatrist in Quebec authorized to sign off on surgery. If you need help, stay away from these people.
