This doc preformed surgery on my kneee 20 years ago and I personally found him straight up and to the point . Some people want a friendly one , I prefer one that hasn't got time for socializing . Excellent work on his part . Highly recommend this doc .

After reading the reviews, I was a little worried about my Doctors appointment. My experience was a good one, the Doctor was very professional and kind. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my family and friends.

Wow. I’m not allowed to write the word I want to use to describe this guy. All the reviews are absolutely what I experienced today. Aside from unprofessional language (I don’t mind swearing, but not from a doctor - at his office), this man is arrogant and condescending. He talks and talks and talks and doesn’t let you get a question in. If you do manage a question, he doesn’t answer it but explains some medical procedure to make himself sound knowledgeable. At one point, he was taking about using Dragon voice-to-text software (which I know about so don’t need explained), he actually said, “they have a dumbed-down version” for non-medical applications. Excuse me? I have told my family doctor all of this and will enthusiastically tell her and anyone who is referred to him to go to someone else. 0/5 stars for this guy.

All the negative comments you read are correct, my family Dr recommended me to come see this guy and it was a big mistake and a big waste of my time. I told my family Dr to stop sending her patients here. I am 52 years young and I have no strength in left knee when I bend down I can't get up when I walk up and down stairs it buckles gives out an I fall. Test results showed 2 moderate sized bursal effusions combined with arthritis. He told me to stop walking give up on walking as walking pisses my knee off and he serious! Told me to suck it up live with the pain and falling down and to stop walking.

Could not agree more with these review. Horrible experience with doctor. He was very rude, arrogant and extremely unprofessional. He refused to look at my son’s ultrasound and basically our appointment was a complete waste of time. Definately, time to retire!

Dr. McAllister performed a successful surgery on my broken ankle in March 2009. I never once had to see him again because what he did was so successful, I must say that I have not had any problems with pain or arthritis. at 73 years old! Thank you Dr. McAllister for all the care that you provided.

I was referred to Dr. McAllister by my family doctor in Oshawa. I wish I had seen the reviews before my appointment. The comments I have been reading from the past couple of years are correct. I went into this appointment with a hope of having some kind of solution to being able to walk normally again because the arthritis and torn meniscus in my knee have been crippling me. This guy was a joke and completely unprofessional. My first instinct should've been when he walked into the room and said "hey" to me and "sup". Totally unprofessional as far as I am concerned. He looked at the X-ray I had done almost 2 years ago, but didn't bother to even look at my MRI results that my family doctor had sent over. I left the appointment feeling more upset than I ever have with no real resolution to my situation. I'm pretty picky when it comes to doctors and I can say I would not recommend this quack to anyone.

An absolute ignorant individual. I have been in agony for 3 months, and was prepared for my visit with pertanent and important questions. He wouldn't let me ask one question. He just went on and on listening to his own garble. I have NEVER felt so deflated and defeated in my life. He's a piece of work.
Never going back. I'm going to pick my choice of DR. going forward.

Dr McAllister is now in Oshawa and no longer in Sault Ste Marie. I read some of the reviews and they are bang on about his personality and the quote about ultrasounds being useful only to tell if you are pregnant was repeated to me so I know this is the same doctor. Is he gruff? yep. Is he competent? Maybe - I have no way to tell. I suspect he moved to Oshawa because he ticked off too many in the Soo. He went into a diatribe how someone had wasted their time doing meaningless work. Via the analogy, my interpretation is that I was wasting his time. Although my knee was better (3 weeks had gone by since the referral to him), he offered no hypothesis on why I could not walk on it, other than our bodies repair themselves. Fair enough, but the presentation was like your typical sports coach - live with it - suck up the pain buddy – work through it - why are you here if it has improved. Just because I’m not an athlete or a construction worker does not necessitate blowing off the patient. If he had just presented some possibilities, said there is nothing there that is urgent, do this or that to help manage the issue, it would have made the visit far more palatable and him seem less self righteous. I hate going to doctors as is. This one isn't going to make you feel any better because he thinks you are wasting his time (not like he wasn't paid for it). I can understand the frustration with patients who may not present with anything that is overtly serious or clinically interesting but isn’t the purpose of a doctor, to do triage, sort the severity and help all the patients? Those that don’t understand the cause of severe pain they never had before are not helped by being disdained.
