Dr Ella Youngblood has been my adult son's MD since he was 2 years old. I have ALWAYS felt completely comfortable and secure in putting our lives in her capable hands. She has helped us through some difficult situations over the past 20 some years. Her knowledge base is always up to date and she always treats the patient as an individual and not just as a disease. As healthcare in America has had to lower the standards of their care this office has refused to follow that trend. Their standards remain excellent. Staff is friendly and supportive of our needs. My son is not always a good or compliant patient and they have always dealt with him in a warm and respectful manner and with an individualized plan of care,

The nurse that takes blood is one of the most unfriendly people I've ever dealt with in a doctor's office. Dr. Youngblood is always patronizing to me. I can't find a good GP in Roanoke.

There was a time when this was the best office in town. I have been a patient for almost 20 years and have witnessed a decline in total care from Roanoke Family Medicine. First off, the staff person (Amber) at the front desk is horribly rude. Since Doc Ball spends most of his days at the lake now, it's hard to get the opportunity to see him unless you are able to make an appt. weeks or months in advance. That leaves one with either the Nurse Practitioner (which they appear to have a difficult time retaining) or Dr. Youngblood. I've seen Youngblood several times and there was a point where she was wonderful and caring. Now it appears that she can't wait to get to the next person and so on and so on. My wife left this practice and found a new doctor b/c of poor care at this office. I have wanted to stay and have been telling myself to go elsewhere for years. I've finally decided to make a change. I hope others have a better experience than I have.

Dr Youngblood has been my physician for years. I have always found her to be professional, willing to think outside the box when it came to uncommon symptoms. She always returns her calls in a timely manner.

I credit this doctor with saving my sanity - when a number of specialists consistently couldn't find the cause for my symptoms it was Dr. Youngblood who took their findings and put all the pieces together. I believe the previous reviewer is responding negatively to her friendliness - she is very friendly, but I found it reassuring. She helped me get the tests I needed, made good suggestions on a nutritionist and asthma specialist, and was always available when I called in a panic in the following weeks as I followed her treatment plan. Can't suggest this doctor enough.

As a professional, it was somewhat painful to listen to Ms. Youngblood speak in a quite patronizing tone whilst ignoring my concerns and questions. And let me tell you, the patronizing "um-hmm, there, there" tone is transparent (in other words, fake) enough to evoke nausea. In addition, I was concerned that, although she surely has more medical knowledge than do I, her diffential diagnosis skills might be lesser than my own, which made it all the more frustrating that she was clearly unreceptive to hearing my questions. If your sick and you want someone to talk to you as though your a helpless, unintelligible child, Ms. Youngblood's your girl. If you want a knowledgeable doctor with ego-strength sound enough to withstand listening to your questions and with good attention to differential diagnosis, perhaps you should try elsewhere.
