Several terrible experiences with this Dr. and medical practice. Got wrong info from staff...they never sent in blood work orders when due...both staff and Dr. lied about important information...hard to reach by phone...a 1:15 phone appointment was finally made at 3:30 with no explanation...another 3:30 phone appointment was confirmed at 3 and then canceled at 3:30...other examples, but bottom line is that they are very unprofessional and disrespectable of the patient's time

I went to see Dr. Diaz on the referral of my 2 doctors. When I called for the appt., I was told I was to see the Nurse Practitioner. I explained that my Dr.s wanted me to see Dr. Diaz only, as they needed answers for my management and I did not think the NP was qualified to make the recommendations that even my own very skilled Dr.s were unsure of how to proceed. But they told me I had to see the Nurse practitioner first as Dr. Diaz was too busy. I said I didn't mind waiting 3 weeks to see Dr. Diaz, it was non urgent, but they insisted. So, I did, reluctantly. The NP, took so long, asking so many questions, I thought that she was being thorough..however, then she launched into a ten minute talk about her own medical conditions...not at all professional. She then said she would speak with Dr. Diaz and get back to me by phone. She had NO ANSWERS! So, in actuality, she did a history, no exam as it said on my charges. She called me a few days later and said I needed treatment before any surgery. I told her that surgery was NOT even scheduled and I did not contemplate surgery at this time, especially when I have some kind of infection...but that still the answer to the question ( which is why I went there)...is what do we do about my infectious disease now? I was told she would call me back. She did, and guess what she told me? I had to come in to see Dr. Diaz. DUH! So, I made another appt. , asking for first in morning or afternoon as I cannot sit too long. I was given one 3 weeks later. I arrived on time and was told Dr. Diaz was coming from the hospital. I waited and hour, and was told that she went in to see another patient who had an appt. with the NP, ( not with her as I did) but had also asked Dr. Diaz to see her skin lesions. I told the MA that it was rude, unfair and that I could not wait much longer as I WAS supposed to be first. After another 10-15 minutes, I left. Obviously, she did what she wanted, regardless of her schedule as perhaps she too felt her own NP was inadequate. She DOES have the right to see whomever, whenever she chooses. I respect that, but she was disrespectful to me as I could actually hear the light banter and conversation going on in the room next door and it was NOT anything urgent. So much for pt privacy! BTW: The chairs in the exam room look like Mrs. Smith peed on them 3 years ago. Twice, I was asked if my culture reports had been sent and they were, I know for a fact, and it was VERY interesting to note that in an exam room for an infectious disease dr....there was not an otoscope or an ophthalmoscope that are vital tools in the exam of a pt with a possible infectious disease. I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone who has serious health issues. I read that she is kind and compassionate. Well, that is just not enough for me....in today's world, using a NP who is useless to cover for a large practice, as a "physician expander",and not attending to the schedule that is intended for all patients, as well as adhering to things like cleanliness and necessary equipment, as well as having culture reports...are also as impt as kindness and compassion. DID I mention that her staff did tell her that the pt in the room I was in,( ME) was first? So, I suppose it was easier to go into a familiar pt's room first when that pt had an appt with the NP, than to come see me as I had been waiting 7 weeks to see her, as my case was much more complex....If someone had told me they went through this on a site like this...I would NEVER have called for an appt. I suggest that you not do the same until she gets herself, her staff and her priorities up to par. Wishing you Good Heath>>

Dr. Leslie Diaz is one of the top Infectious Disease specialist, not just in this area, but in the U.S.
She is an advocate for the patient, takes all the time necessary when she is with a patient, and superior in all treatment given. One does not go into Infectious Disease to become rich, as some other reviews have suggested. It is one of the most intense specialty areas and when you call for an Infectious Disease doctor, you are in desperate need and very ill. Insurance companies do not pay on time and I know for a fact that Leslie Diaz goes out of her way to help many who do not have the money or insurance. Should a physician be compensated....absolutely. Should a physician be able to make a substantial living after years of schooling and training....absolutely. So for those who thing that Leslie Diaz lives in a 20 room mansion...think again. And if she did...it would be well deserved. So... the next time you or a loved one are gravely ill and you need to see an Infectious Disease doctor.... Dr. Leslie Diaz should be the first on your list. She is and always will be the best in my book.

I am not sure why other reviewers are giving poor ratings because a Dr. wants to make sure you have insurance. Medical care is not a free service people!!! Go to the public clinic. I used to work in a Dr's office, and Dr's have a business to run. It is not fair to give a poor rating because they are running a business. Would you expect a car insurance company to pay for your car damage if you didn't have insurance? Having said that I love this Dr's office! Staff was very professional and Dr. Diaz is the best. She took the time to explain everything to me, and I could tell that she really cared. I cold not be happier with her. She has a great bedside manner, and is very knowledgeable.

This doctor does not do workers comp cases. And will do what every it takes to keep your case on private insurance. Costing you money, while making herself more money. I would not let this doctor change a bandaid for me. My best advice to you is find a new doctor. This one only cares about money. When my insurance ran out she would not see me anymore. She also put me in the hospital to keep me from filing workers comp. And when the insurance would not pay for it, because she could not give valid medical reasons for putting me in the hospital. She told me "We can not treat patients based on the way insurance company do business. We have to do what's best for the patient." So I guess it was best for this patient to get no care, since I had no insurance anymore.

The staff called me a few minutes before noon(they stop answering the phones at noon) and told me I need a refferal from my primary physician on a appointment for tommorow which was made 17 days ago. The doctor knows what she is doing but the office is not well run.

Insists on insurance coverage approval before making an appointment, even when it is urgent.
