I wonder too if there are two doctors with the same name or if he has learned some huge lessons. I have had a number of gp's and he is the best so far.

I am almost wondering if there are two doctors with the same name. My experience with Dan is that he is very thorough, listens to all my concerns and talks me through everything I have questions about. He has been my family doctor for a few years now, I would be sad if he wasn't.

Just wondering if anyone is reading these ratings by patients? If I had as many driving infractions as some of these doctors I wouldn't have A licence, or at least wouldn't be able to afford insurance

I was unfortunate enough to have him on duty in the ER afterI had suffered a third TIA.He could have cared less, ordered an EKG, left me unattended in an examining roon without a call button, came back an hour later and told me" there is nothing more we can do for you, go home and keep your fingers crossed".I would not let him near a sick animal let alone a human .The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is taking a very great risk allowing him to see patients in the ER.

Unfortunatly, this doctor was in the emergency room after I had "sprained " my knee. He barely checked it, nor did he have it x-rayed. He gave me a slip for some pain kilers and called it a day. I had left work early that day because of the pain and when I asked him for a doctors note to show my employer (mind you I was not asking for any time of work, frankly I cant afford it and this knee injury was the only thing that ever kept me away from my work)he simply said "No, I dont have the time", anyway he didnt have the time of day for my and my family doctor was away on vacation so I had no other means of getting it x-rayed. The knee is still bothering me, so I highly doubt it was a sprain.....

I haven't seen him in over ten years, and never want to again. he was my doctor when I carried my daughter, knowing I had lost three pregnancies before, he called me at home telling me I had to go for a repaet ultrasound, the baby had a cyst on the brain. When I asked what this meant he told me it would lead to brain swelling a shunt may be needed and or permanant brain damage, then in the same breath tells me he can not answer my questions as he never seen this before..oh yes did I mention he told me all this over the phone while I was home alone. Needless to say I called another doctor (A specialist from Halifax) who assured me things would be fine and I should never have been so misinformed. baby turned out great.

Dr Nicholson saw my daughter in ER and read her x-rays, and determined she just had a sore leg. Because she did not cry, he felt her leg was fine and not broken. A few days later, my family doctor called and advised her leg was broken and needed to be casted immediately. My family doctor was very upset over the mis diagnosis after she looked at the x-ray and showed me the break. I would not recommend him for care of my children.

Was willing to take me on even though he is not an AIDS specialist ( AIDS care in Cape Breton is pretty abysmal, believe me ) ... he always gave me my dignity and was very helpful and well informed. As for the other entries made here ... victims find victims, victors find victors.

This Dr should not be allowed to practice. I have seen him twice in emergency. Once for myself, and once when my son was around 3 months old. He said there was nothing wrong with my son, and I ended up back in emerg that night and another dr checked him and told me he had a severe throat infection I told him I was there that am and he asked who the dr was and when I told him he just shook his head. For me I arrived at 6 am and was in a severe galbladder attack, he finally seen me at 10 told me he was ordering a ultrasound...they finally took me down at 1:00, at 1:30 he told me my galbladder had to be removed and they were calling in a surgeon, and he would give me something for the pain...which I got at 4:00. They removed my galbladder at 9 that night. Whenever I go to the emerg I ask if he is in and if he is I tell them I want another dr, if they can't accomodate, I leave cause seeing him is much much worse then going untreated.
