Dr. Smith was an attending at Sloan-Kettering where my wife had successful cancer surgery with a different surgeon many years ago. When she developed a mass in the same general area in 2005, it was important that she see someone familiar with her type of cancer and the procedure she had. We were enormously relieved and grateful to find Dr. Smith at Hackensack. Her surgery went flawlessly, and Dr. Smith was particularly sensitive to her fear of recurrence, offering evidence-based reassurance whenever possible. When she developed a post-op reaction to an antibiotic she was sent home with, and needed to adjust her pain meds, he was available promptly on the phone to change the perscription and cheerful. Even though the mass was not cancer, he has made himself available to follow her for the future. Any woman facing gyn. cancer surgery should be greatly comforted to have Dr. Smith oversee her care. For a surgeon, his bedside manner is friendly and comforting without any surgeon arrogance

He is a division chief and a specialist in gynecologic oncology. After my first myomectomy, he was recommended to me by a dear friend and what a recommendation! He is the BEST! He is very compassionate and kind and funny and makes you feel extremely comfortable! Would recommend him in a heart beat! I've been a patient for the past 18 months and he has performed 2 surgeries - he remembers all the details even after 6 months, many docotors don't take the time to review the files before seeing a patient.
