First visit w dr for physical as a new patient. Right off, without hearing my side, she made assumptions about my history, said she doesn't give unnecessary medications, and will only refer for treatment if she can't manage it. When I did get to tell her my actual experience, she said she knew how it felt bc she dealt with a similar issue (Um, NO, you don't know how I feel bc I am my own person with my own experiences), and that is a BIG no-no in medicine. She assumed, downplayed and invalidated my issues. The entire physical was no more than weight, blood pressure, listening to lungs and heart. I told her I hadn't had a mammo or pap in 3 years but she only ordered basic labs. She suggested a holistic approach of meditation & a vegan diet. I rec'd a summary of my visit, which was full of errors, not what we discussed, one medication was listed twice and others didn't reflect new doses. I gave the ofc staff a form and $10 for the renewal of my handicap tag, and they said the Dr will complete it and they'd call me to pick it up. Later, I learned they entered my phone number wrong in their system bc I couldnt access the patient portal. A week later, still no call, so I went to office to pick up the completed form. The staff said the dr didnt do it yet, and then again questioned me as to why I need the handicap tag renewal. I said (again), "I'm disabled and it expires on my birthday, so I need to renew it". Then she said, "I mean, why do you need it?" I said "because ---(details of disability)."Then she said "the Dr can't complete the tag renewal until she sees the reasons in writing." I said, "she has ALL my medical records", I showed her my current handicap tag and my SSD statement, and explained that you can't get Disability without verified valid reasons and that I've been disabled for 10 years, and she still wouldnt do it! And I could've had my other Dr complete it, but I told him she was already doing it, so he didnt need to, and now I'll need to go back to him! Im shocked at how uncaring, inconsiderate, unprofessional, and discriminating they were and I've never been treated with such disregard and in such a condescending manner. Even with showing them my permanent SSD statement AND parking tag AND having ALL of my medical records AND an office visit, it's not enough? Note to Dr: being disabled doesn't mean I'm a liar, an idiot or a bum. It means I'm disabled, and it sucks. I don't need my own doctor treating me like sh*t. Also, as my records show, and as I told her during my appointment, I have a history of falls. If I fall or exacerbate my injuries walking lengths I can't manage, she can be held liable. If all that wasnt enough, I then asked if they had my labs back yet and she said yes. So I said ok can I see them. She said no, she hasn't looked at them yet..she will enter in system when she does. What? I cant see my own labs? And now it's been over a week and still no results. In summary, if you want concerned or compassionate doctor and valid, thorough medical care and management and fair treatment, look elsewhere.
