I was able to get on Dr. Van’s patient list and it’s been life changing for me. I finally feel like I have appropriate support for the mental health issues I’ve been dealing with. Dr. Van is so knowledgeable, and has never rushed me through an appointment. I’m not sure why so many people are bashing the office staff - I love them! Always curteous to me, will fit me in at the last moment when necessary and show genuine concern as well. I love Ellen in particular, but the entire staff deserve to be commended for dealing with rude patients - no one deserves to deal with that while just doing their job. I hope that they do dismiss rude and arrogant people as their sign elludes to, because there’s just no reason to treat people the way I’ve seen the desk staff treated. As a few others have mentioned, they have a handy app with the wait times displayed so you plan accordingly. I usually don’t bother and just bring a book or my laptop for while I’m waiting. Most complaints on here are about wait times - have you ever been to a good family doctor and not had to wait? Get over it.

Too many appointments per hour but such a personable Dr and pays attention to all my questons

Dr Van is a good doctor when you can actually get in to see him. My last appointment was scheduled for 2:00 pm and knowing he is always behind schedule I asked what time to return. The receptionist said 3:00 pm. I returned promptly then and left at 4:15 without even seeing him! I couldn't wait any longer. I have since changed doctors.

I have had Dr van for years and will always have him as our Dr. I don't care about wait times bc he is so thorough and goes through my concerns. I think he's the best Dr in the province . ❤😀

He is an amazing doctor who is never afraid to share his personal opinion. Trusts a mothers instinct and doesn’t try to talk you out of something. Amazing guy!

He was great until I got seriously sick. If you're generally healthy or just need symptom management, he's a great friendly doctor. If you need someone to pay attention and help you find both the problem and solutions to the problem, maybe find a different doctor. I only got sicker under his care and he didn't do anything for me or seem concerned enough to really investigate.

I love dr van but his staff is terrible. I have called over 20 times and not been able to get through to book a follow up appt. The receptionists are rude and never friendly.

I have been with Dr. Van since shortly after he started at Lakewood Medical. He gets to know his patients which helps to treat issues not just symptoms. He is honest when it comes to recommendations, will say things that people may not want to hear, but need to, but all in a way that is caring not arrogant or condescending . If you want a doctor that pushes medications, he is not your man. If you want a doctor that will help you, he is your man. If you want quick service, you are not going to find it with him. They have a wonderful app that saves you waiting room time.

Dr Van may take extra time to get to you, but when he is with you, you are his only priority and focus! He will help you with respect dignity and a few laughs! He has been my doctor for at least 11 years and is now my baby boys doctor! I could never thank him enough or show enough appreciating for such an amazing doctor! He and his wife (who is a dentist) are the most amazing people!
