Karen Berg provided me with excellent treatment after a terrible experience that occurred after surgury on my foot by an off island surgeon. She immediately diagnosed my situation and I was able to recover. If it had for her astuteness I could have lost function of my foot

dr berg has been my 'family' doctor for about 10 years.my mother loves her. i dont. in my time as her patient, she has completely disregarded my mental health problems(as though i was faking), been incredibly rude and treats me like im bothering her by showing up to my appointment. she never looks at charts before an appointment, mus-prescribed my mother and she had to be rushed to a hospital, sent a friend home from lady minto when he was there for treatment prescribed by another physicican (again, didnt look at the chart) (he had blood poisoning and spent an extra 2 days in the hospital because she interrupted his treatment. i have just recently found a new doctor at the local clinic as i am afraid to go to her for anything serious in case she isnt paying attention that day. id encourage anyone! that is unsure of what ails them or with mental health concerns to find another MD

Karen has been my family's GP for 14 years. I love her. I find her to be very likeable once you get through her initial crust. She doesn't pretend to know everything like many arrogant doctors that hand you a prescription and wave you away. She doesn't hesitate to look stuff up in her big book. I have a rare painful illness that no one was able to diagnos for years. I saw many specialists to no avail. Karen was the one who connected the dots, came up with a possible diagnosis, and sent me to the right specialist in Vancouver. My life is 100% better. She was incredibly kind to my father who had disfiguring cancer and was also on my mom to take care of her diabetes. My kids didn't like her much when they were teens but do now that they are adults with families of their own and are able to see past Karen's slightly eccentric personality. She's not for everyone but I sure am glad that she's here for me. I would definately recommend her.

Karen Diagnosed my symptoms as rheumatic fever, then said my age fit the profile so did not treat me for it (a run of penicillin would have done the trick). I spend weeks in Vic. general and now will have serious PERMANENT heart valve problems. The files reporting Berg's medical evaluation and findings mysteriously went missing when court documents were filed to sue.

Dr. Berg has been my mother's physician for several years. She has always been very dedicated and thorough. She is extremely patient and asks thoughtful questions. She always demonstrates a real concern for the welfare of her patients. She has even come to Mom's home to check on her and arranged for the care of Mom's dogs when Mom needed to be in the hospital. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful physician.

Okay, this rating is not based on the care I have received from her personally, but for the care she has shown my children. Yes, she is a bit of a Dr House, and yes, she has her bad days, where she seems almost to scorn my concerns. My youngest just got the dread flu and with his underlying issue (asthma which quickly turns to bronchitis) we were out the door in no time with a nose swab and antivirals, plus renewed inhaler prescriptions. Thanks for that. The new secretary is a very nice British woman who never seems frazzled and has a kind manner, and the new office is adequate and still under construction.

Dr. Berg attended me at the Lady Minto emergency on Friday night July 31. I was having a serious problem swollowing and breathing. She gave me ibuprofen after I told her I could not swollow. Wrote me a presciption for penicilin to be filled on the following Monday if it did not get better.I informed her that Monday was B.C. day.She did not care. After a hellish night of pain and chocking I again went to the hospital Saturday morning. DR Holly Slakov took apropriate steps to find out what was wrong and had me air-lifted to Vic Gen. Where i was diagnosed with Epiglottitis which can be and very well could have been fatal. If Dr Berg had of taken the time to listen to me, instead of saying I was just sick, maybe I wouldn't have spent 3 days in ICU. A total of 4 days in hospital, and still suffering the effects 2 weeks later
