I went to Dr. Brown for medication which he gave me. I told him during the visit that I take it when I feel like I need it. When I went to pick up a prescription refill they took a urine sample. Then I got a letter in the mail saying that they did not find the medication in my urine. The letter states "Because of this result I am requesting you seek a new physician for your medical care. You obviously are non-compliant in taking the medication as prescribed which puts my medical practice in a liability status. Please seek care outside Arizona Family Care Associates immedidately." I have indeed taken my mediation as I discussed with Dr. Brown. I find to be poor practice to just send me this letter without even consulting with me. Also, everytime I have gone to Dr. Brown they have billed my insurance with an incorrect billing code that my insurance didn't pay. I think I got it fixed once, and once I had to pay $120 out of pocket for something that has always been covered elsewhere.

Dr. Brown is regularly slow. His accent makes it difficult to understand him, but the biggest problem is his insistence on tests that are unnecessary. Every single time my wife went in he tried to require an EKG. My wife had an upper respiratory infection from the flu and he said he wouldn't help us unless she had an immediate chest x-ray and another EKG. I told him that it was unnecessary because she only had an upper respiratory infection and only required an anti-biotic and some cough syrup. He said, I'm the doctor, I know she could be dying and I'm not going to do anything for you unless you do the tests. We left and went to another doc and within minutes the other doc confirmed it was an upper respiratory infection and provided my wife with some anti-biotics. She recovered within days. I'm not sure, but if I was the insurance company, I'd investigate all of these tests..

This is a great doctor. His staff is friendly and caring.Sure there are times where he is running late but every patient should know that he takes his time with each patient. He is very experianced, knowledgable, and helpful. Sometimes its hard to understand him because he talks too fast but his dedication and professionalism make up for it. He used to work in Bisbee, AZ. Then he moved here to Sierra Vista, AZ. And patients travel all the way from Bisbee and some come from Douglass just to see him. I would recommend this Dr to anyone especially spanish speaking patients.

His staff is poorly trained. Daniella, receptionist, has lied twice to the doctor claiming myself, and recently, my fiance' were rude to her. Doc was my PCP for 7 yrs. Service at his office has plummeted since he replaced hisstaff 1.5 yrs ago. On 8/18/09, my fiance' wnet in to pick up my perscription slip for my pain meds. He complained twice after having to wait almost 2 hours. Daniella complained to the doc that he was rude. The doc came out yelling at him in fromt of every1!! I was fired as his patient the next day! Even if he was rude, which he wasnt, I am not responsible for another persons behavior. Never had a problem with the Doc himself, until my pain mng clinic gave him a letter, require him to give me monthly narcotic scrips for my arthritis. hHe kept changing policies regarding my narc scripts w/o telling me. I got upset and told them so. I really feel he was lookin for any "out" to to fire me. I am also not allowed to hire any doc within "arizona family care".
