Saw him about 15 years ago after my heart stopped in hospital. He did an agiagram found nothing but prescribed a beta blocker as a precaution. Against what? He found nothing wrong but put me on a medication that has caused side effects such as psoriasis to name but one. When I went back to see him after 2 years of being on the drug, wanting to know if I needed to continue taking it, he basically threw me out of his office advising me that I wasn't sick and that he didn't have time for me. Thus 15 years later I'm on a medication that I don't even know that I need. One needs to be slowly taken off this medication you don't just stop. I never got any answers. I would not recommend him for that reason.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Smith's for approximately 10 years. Although she liked him, in the end we were not impressed. When she was last hospitalized on an emergency basis I called his office and told his nurse what was occurring with my mom. There was talk of putting in a pacemaker, and we wanted his input. She assured me she would tell him and have him look in on my mother. To everyone's disappointment, but especially my mother's he never came to see her (his office is right across the street and he is in the hospital on a regular basis)or called the attending doctor at the hospital during her ten day hospitalization. She passed away. When I called to cancel an appointment made prior to all of this and explained that she had passed away, I received an abrupt "thank you" and that was all.His nurse quickly hung up the phone. Even the call center folks I called to cancel accounts and credit cards were more compassionate and said they were sorry for our loss.

He is a cardiologist right? And his job is to find problems with the heart. He completely missed mine. This is why I do not trust doctors. He said I was fine and I went to my doc and told her I want another test. So she tried one I did not have yet (go figure!) and the results showed that i have MVP . A condition that needs to be monitored because it might result in the valves needing to be replaced. This doctor did not find it but easily sent me home telling me i was fine!! A doctor like that should not be a doctor. I really wonder about this city. Does no one care that people are dying because of these doctors? Something must be done or more people should start suing, maybe then doctors would take the time. If you did not get into this for people but money then you have gone into the wrong business.

Tops in bedside manners, punctuality, attention to details, accuracy of diagnosis (and on and on...)! He has given me a quality life beyond normal medical/statistical expectations. I thank him and wish him many new hobbies in his upcoming retirement. I thank him!

Excellent doctor, always smiling. He makes you feel at ease even when he has to tell you bad news about your tests.

Dr. Smith has been my cardiologist for 17 years - ever since my first valve replacement. He is an excellent doctor - knowledgeable, friendly, caring - everything you could ask for. Unfortunately he is retiring the end of 2007 so we will all have to try to find someone else - not an easy task!

I had the opportunity to go into Dr. Smith's office with my mother today. The staff were amazing. Very friendly and treated absolutely everyone who came in like they were family. As for Dr. Smith he was extremely informative and straight forward with my mother's prognosis. He said her heart was fine but that the most important thing to focus on was her pain in her back and her trouble walking. After getting her an appointment with her General Practitioner, he said to tell the Docotor to call him tomorrow (he got an appointment for her the following day) and he will give her the results of the blood test that was just ordered because she would not receive them that quickly. I am thankful my Mother has him for a cardiologist. He is friendly, imformative, helpful like the hometown doctors like the type of Doctor that you only read about in books. He is the real McCoy.
