He Hu is very medically-minded. She is not the midwife to hire if you want a natural birth. She's really into drugs and interventions (she was an OB in China, and found the requirements in Canada easier to get into for midwifery than obstetrics). She also discriminates against anyone with a BMI over 20.

He Hu is wonderful. She was our midwife for our first child and I have to say having a midwife is the way to go! She was very knowledgable at our appts and when it came to delivering she was great. I couldn't imagine anyone better. She listened to me and kept our birth plan etc but kept safety of mom and child first too. I would confidently recommend her to anyone!

She is very helpful and knowledgable. Having been an ob/gyn in China before moving to Canada gives her the best of both worlds!

During my pregnancy at visits He was very knowledgeable, but i sometimes had difficulty understanding her. However any reservations I may have had disappeared during the birth. She did everthing in her power to keep to my birth plan and kept me relaxed (first child) and talked me through what could have been a difficult experience. She was open my needs.

I was really happy with He Hu! I had come from a doctor who landed me in the hospital with a kidney infection at 32 weeks pregnant. He Hu took me on just after that. She did way better pre and post natal care then the Doctor did (and I had an obstetrician as well. She would spend time answering any questions I had and in the end I would have a midwife again in a heartbeat. She's definitely a say it like it is sort of person, but she does have your best interests at heart.

He Hu visited me postpartum. I found her difficult to understand. I didn't like her attempts to help me with breastfeeding, she was very hands on manipulating my breast and nipple trying to get baby to feed and I felt inadequate and incapable of getting it to work. I went on to successfully breastfeed and have been happily doing so for many months now, but I did not enjoy her methods. She also gave my baby a bath at 1-2 days after birth. At the time I was too tired to decide if that's what I really wanted, and now I wish I had waited and been able to give that first bath myself. I don't think she is necessarily a bad midwife, she just wasn't my style.

Great midwife. only concern was somewhat hard to understand at times. Always on time and valuable advice. Very great follow-up and overall care and concern
