I believe Dr. McCoy is one of, if not the best family MD in our area. He goes out of his way to give quality care even with ever increasing pressure and difficulty to do so due to cut backs/lack of resources in our area. I have had several Dr's previously and was not very impressed by them. Never did they bother to help with samples even though I had no drug plan; they never even bothered to ask, and I did not know to ask. I even had to explain to one what my condition was as he had no clue. Not Dr. McCoy-Dr. McCoy has blown me away by his knowledge, care, understanding and time he has given me. He does call in ill frequently, but he is worth the wait and hastle of having to reschedule. EVERYONE gets sick. As well, he is often behind schedule; but that is usually because someone needed more care and he gave it. I just wish he would take better care of himself so he can continue being the great Dr that he is.

cancels most appts. you need to rely on walk in clinics now for care. good doctor when he is there. rarely there though

After a year with this doctor, he has given up trying to find out what is wrong with me. I will most likely try to find a new, more compassionate doctor for future care.

Sounds like he is a wonderful doctor to his patients however I am a general dentist and called his office last week regarding a mutual patient and wasn't very impressed. First, he did not return my call and I had to call a second time several days later. Second, he did not come to the phone personally but had his receptionist (very nice lady) relay the information. It was regarding possibly stopping or changing the dosing of a very strong medication prior to major oral surgery...a medication some doctors believe can cause serious healing problems after extractions. The exact words he relayed to his receptionist to tell me were that he was 'passing the buck to Dr....(me)' In other words, he did not want to make the decision and was leaving it to me. Well, I am not the prescribing doctor so this leaves me with a dilemma. Not the most professional behaviour for a medical doctor.

Probably the smartest man I have ever met. Has been my family MD since his predecessor retired. He gives you the straight goods, tells it like it is and pulls no punches. Yes, there is often a wait to see him, but I am more than happy to wait because I know I will be listened to and taken good care of when my turn comes.

Today was my first appointment with Dr. McCoy and I have to say that in that one appointment I found out more about my condition than I did in 16 years with my last doctor. He was very friendly and talkative. He doesn't make you feel like you're lower than he is (which is the treatment I get from many many doctors). My only complaint is that I wish I had gone to him sooner! EXCELLENT!

I have seen steve since he came to leamington in 89. He is one of the smartest Dr's I know and I am an ER nurse. He is thorough and explains everything to the cellular level if you wish. I admire his character to break away from the suit and tie dr look and be himself. Tattoes, piercings and tear away pants. There isnt an aspect of my life he isnt aware of and takes everything into account when diagnosing. I will always admire him. But i still cant believe such a smart man...in this profession smokes..bad steve bad.

By far the most knowledgable Doctor I have ever met. Don't worry about punctuality, he'll get to you and you will get the best that he can offer. I think doctors who are punctual are more apt to treat their patients as if they were working on an assembly line. This is not the case with Dr. McCoy. Your problem will be taken seriously. He's not a pill pusher and his dedication to keeping in tune with the latest in medical research has gained my confidence and vote of approval.
