Had a great experience at Dr. Appel’s office. Staff was courteous and I was seen promptly. Most importantly, Dr. Appel has great bedside manner and listens to all of your concerns - doesn’t rush you or try to push your inquiries onto a nurse.

The question I have for Dr. Appel is: do you have any idea how nasty your staff is? You should listen to how they call people and threaten them that if they don’t have their Medicare figured out, they are not allowed to come in and be seen for their appointment. It makes absolutely no difference if you are a lifelong patient or not. Shame on you.

Great physician. I never have to wait long for an appointment. Very attentive doctor. I had a medical issue that my specialist failed to pick up, yet he, my internist, was able to find the issue and get me the appropriate treatment. He has been my doctor for years and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

I am a veteran the VA MD I'm required to see in order to participate in their drug plan has never picked up on any problem I have had. Dr Appel in the same time frame has discovered and corrected as medically possible 7 + serious medical problems I have had saving my life with at least 3 of his diagnosis. If you want t a doctor to find and cure what problems you have see Dr Appel a doctor who truly cares for his patients

Its being 5 years since I have been going to Dr. Appel and I wouldn't trade him for any other doctor, he is the best doctor I have been to, you can ask him any question about your health, he is easy to talk to and he take time with his patients to ensure they understand what their health needs are. I am so grateful to have you as my doctor. If it were not for you and your team, I would not be here today.
The staff are great, they make you feel at home like a family. Thanks you so much Dr. Appel

Dr. Appel has been my primary care physician for over 30 years. Unlike some other physicians he never overbooks his appointment schedule so that when you arrive you do not find an over crowded waiting room and you are seen promptly.
Dr. Appel attends to all aspects of your care personally and he seeks questions that you may have concerning your health. His diagnosis is totally accurate and he makes sure that you throughly understand what his examination has revealed. No questions goes unanswered.
He personally draws blood and also checks your blood pressure to insure accuracy which
is most reassuring to the patients.
When laboratory work is needed and the results are sent back to Dr. Appel I am informed
of these results promptly. Unlike some other physicians who state that if we do not call you
back everything is okay. This does not instill the confidence that a call back does. These small but very important extra steps that Dr Appel and his staff take gives me the utmost confidence that I am receiving the best care possible.
Additionally should an emergency situation (non-life threatening) arrise, Dr Appel will fit
you into his regular schedule and you will be assured to be seen promptly.
Finally for those of you who currently do not have a primary care physician or are not totally happy with the service you are getting from your current physician, call for an
appointment with Dr. Appel and be assured when you leave the office you will not be disappointed and will have found a great doctor.
B.K.

When it came to choosing my primary care doctor, I started coming to Dr. Appel because he came highly recommended by my friends. He is a very caring physician and gives his patients the time and personalized attention that is so hard to find in medicine these days. He is very clear in his analysis and helps me understand how he arrives at the diagnosis and what treatment steps he recommends. Dr. Appel always makes sure I leave clearly knowing what I need to do in order to get better.

Whenever I have had an emergency, he finds a way to squeeze me into his schedule the very same day. I never have to wait in his waiting room long (so much better than other doctors that may have long waiting times).

His attention to detail and ability as a diagnostician far exceeds any other doctor I have gone to in the past. He has picked up numerous ailments at the very early stages so that they were able to get treated quickly and successfully.

His staff is also very courteous and professional, and they help to make you feel welcome at the office.

As my personal physician for over ten years, Dr. Appel is board certified in internal medicine with a specialty in nephrology. I based my decision to use Dr. Appel as my primary care physician when he treated my mom. I found him skilled and caring as a geriatrician with mom but, importantly, he clearly excelled as a diagnostician. My choice to make him my personal physician was weighed carefully. In my professional life I visited numerous private practices, particularly internal medicine practices in NYC, Westchester and Rockland County, and thus had a basis of comparison.

On one level, the practice is well administered with a staff that knows what they are doing. No double or triple booking here, no excessive wait time. Since there is virtually no employee turnover, the staff knows the drill and they know the patients. He’s assisted by his nurse but Dr. Appel prefers taking blood pressures or drawing blood himself – a small thing perhaps, but reassuring. Dr. Appel’s style is to focus on and speak directly to the patient.

Only when appropriate, is a test ordered or a referral recommended. His record keeping is meticulous and appropriately detailed - no boiler plate here. Medications are prescribed when necessary, but not because they’re advertised on TV. He discusses and evaluates your medical concerns and arrives at his diagnosis. As he describes his recommended treatment, he will pause to provide whatever level of clarification you require. As your visit draws to a close, a summary of the visit is provided and, where needed, an emphasis on compliance and follow-up. And the session ends without Dr. Appel “dismissing” the patient, but rather with him asking if you have any additional questions. Novel perhaps, but a greatly appreciated approach!

I have been a patient of Dr. Appel for many years. His office is so organized that I have never had to wait in the waiting room. With the exception of his nurse weighing me, he does everything else. Friends and family are amazed that I get seen by him on the very day I call when I am sick. I've never been put off until another day. He is so knowledgeable about all different aspects of health. Dr. Appel has always been so understanding and compassionate about my problems. I am so grateful he is my doctor.

. He listens intently to everything I say and never rushes me.
