Dr. Aboff is a good doctor in and of himself, but the CCHS practice he is part of is a mess. They seldom answer phone calls with a live voice, are often slow to return calls and on occasion fail to do so at all,, requiring repeated follow-up. Because this practice also does some teaching and other CCHS work, the days you can see your own doc are limited, and you are often passed off to the nurse practitioner to attend to your needs. The practice dictates that their docs spend only 20 minutes per patient, thus they frequently run late and unless your malady is simple you will feel rushed. Basically, they have "cheaped out" on care and service altogether. In terms of medical knowledge Dr. Aboff scores well, but in general all the docs in the practice are quick to pass you off to a specialist, and without any referral or intervention to get you a timely appointment. Often this leaves you living with the problem you presented for weeks awaiting a specialist to finally treat you..... all in all quite a runaround. The reality is that the only specialists they are familiar with are also part of the CCHS network, so if you have anything serious that calls for a wider net to be cast (Hopkins, Penn, Georgetown, etc.) you are on your own. So, the practice is ok if all you need is a flu shot and someone to keep track of your medical history, but little else.
