To be blunt she has the personality of a slug! There is a reason when I called to book an appointment and most of her day was open on a Friday, that should have been my first clue. She does not listen, is rude and quite frankly so old and miserable she clearly hates her job. I couldn't get out the exam room fast enough. Save yourself and don't see this doctor.

I went to this doctor about a ago. I told her that I was not getting my periods. She sent me for one blood test. I also brought in a pregnancy test that clearly said positive, but said it was negative. my hcg level was very low. So she said that I was not pregnant. Now I agree that to someone that would look like she was right, but she almost mocked me for when I showed her the pregnancy test. Later I show a friend yet another test and my friend told me that she saw it was clearly positive. Anyway about a month after that I saw what I think was a miscarriage happening, tissue and stuff when I went to the bathroom. Sorry for the tmi. So I would not go to this lady even as a walk in patient. I have a another doctor anyway.

Dr. Emmott is one of the only doctors in Courtenay/Comox accepting new patients, which is why I think most people end up with her. I think she is the worst doctors I have ever had. She is fine doing routine check ups, but if you have a serious condition that requires a thoughtful response, don't waste your time. Her goal seems to be to get patients in and out as quickly as possible without her having to lift a finger to help. In the past 5 years, I have gone to her twice with 2 serious health concerns. The first time she acted like I had not said anything. "Anything else?" she asked after I described my symptoms. I was shocked. "No, that's everything" I said slowly. Sure enough, a few seconds later she took her leave and that was the end of the appointment. The second time, she wrote up a little "report" on her computer and told me to come back if it got worse. In both cases, she did not look at my body or order any tests, but she billed the government nonetheless. This is a failure to provide basic medical attention. I think this woman is in the wrong profession but has found a way to make a comfortable living for herself. I am not wasting my time or taxpayer's money by going to this doctor again.

I went to see Dr Emmott reference my Chronic Fatigue and requested B12 injections, not only did she say that was hoky poky but also bluntly cut down a book I was reading on Eating Right for your Blood Type. Having CFS for over 20 yrs and only hanging on to my life with hopes of a some relief of my symptoms, Dr Emmott displayed no support whatsoever and just overally negativity! She later injected me with a B12 shot, which she sucked from the vial, didnt even squeeze out any air and litterally jammed it in my shoulder without checking for injection into a vein. Total unprofessionalism not to mention unsafe practice!!

I spent many months trying to find out my problems only to have to deal with an unfriendly staff and even worse doctor. Always late, always in too big a hurry and doesn't listen. After a serious road accident I was elated to find out she was on holidays and another doctor had to debride my injury. Scarier - she once prescribed meds, gave me a sample and when I read the package insert it said this medication should NOT be given to anyone who has had a hert attack. I have had multiple Heart attachs and she gives me that. Tried to get out of her office but no one else will take me since I already have a doctor - althugh i think that designation is truly beyond anything she does. DO NOT go to this woman if you can help it.

Dr. Emmott will send you to a specailist only when she feels comfortable doing it, then doesn't read the reports, doesn't treat the person (only the problem)Her assessments of physical condtions are better than average but her bed side manner sucks. Beware if you get diagnosed with a psychiatric problem because she will play with your head and medication ( why not she gets paid for each visit) Get used to it because all doctors in the Comox Valley have made a pact and they can treat any patient the way they want to and good luck trying to find a new doctor.

Dr. Kirsten Emmott saved my life, when she suggested we 'make sure' about a mole on my arm. It turned out to be a malignant melanoma: both a deadly cancer if not caught in time and a cancer you can be free from if caught in time, as I understand it in laymens terms. Her extreme professional and scientific attitude for medicine is why I am alive to continue to take care of my mother as her major care giver and POA. And it is precisely, in this situation of being overwhelmed by the stress of being a caregiver that I was unable to even 'notice' or detect the cancer cells in my body. But she did. Her attention to my dysfunctional family in our state of coping with dementia is unparalleled. She went the extra mile to guide and advise when family members were disruptive and she got the job done. I am forever grateful to her. After two years of sorting out the specifics involved in balancing medications, coping with psychological pushes and pulls my mother is again stable because of her

I believe this lady hates being a doctor. Or if she likes being a doctor then perhaps she should have gone through to be a vet. I have many complaints but the one that sticks out in my head the most is when I brought my 3 month old into see her and she was very sick. She walked into the room coughing in her hand and then proceeded to stick her fingers in my baby's month to have a look...NO she didn't wash her hands first!!

Terrible Doctor with no bedside manner or empathy for her patients. I had Dr emmott for about a year when I first moved to the valley and quickly tried to change to another dr when I experienced her terrible attitude. She made me cry on several occassions and never seemed interested in listening to my problems or concerns. She was fast to push me out the door and many times I felt like I never accomplished or resolved any of the issues that I came to see her for.
