My son went to see her for a sleep disorder. He was un able to fall asleep or stay a sleep. He was 18. No testing of any kind was ever done while under her care. He did provide a blood test to her from his MD which stated that he had elevated liver function. She states in her records she will initiate a cocktail of SSRI and GABA stimulation to induce and maintain sleep. At this visit she had prescribed Restoril, Neurontin 300 Seroquel 200 mg as noted in her file to initiate sleep. Less then a week later she added Halcion.

She began with Trazodone, a few days later Ambien, Zolpidem, a few weeks later Lunesta, Vistari l,Restoril, Neurontin/Gabapentin 300 mg then bumped to 600mg Halcion, Seroquel 50 then bumped to 200 mg a few days later. Temazepam ,Doxepin, Trazolam ,Luvox Xyreme. Endless free samples as well. There was a continued need to abruptly remove and add every few days to few weeks. All of these carry very serious side effects, many of which he exhibited and most of these drugs were stacked and when they stopped working she would abruptly remove them. Many times the removal and addition of drugs were done over the phone with out a visit to her office. His condition under her care was classified as Chronic and worsening. This went on for almost 2 1/2 years. We had no idea of the extent of the RX prescribing due to HIPPA. After his passing and we received his file I was mortified to the amount of and the selection of drugs she was using.
One visit to her office that we did go with our son to express our concern for all of the medicines that we were aware of that she was giving. We were told by her that we don't under stand our son needed to be on these drugs and if he wasn't he would die. What we didn't know at the time was the longer he stayed on the drugs and the side effects there would be a greater chance of him dying.
One drug Xyreme that was given is for narcolepsy, this drug has a side effect of sleep. This drug is also known as GHB ( the date rape drug) he did not have narcolepsy, there are extreme cautions on the web site and from the manufacture about the seriousness of this drug. There is also information not to mix with any other sleep aide. Dr. Graves sent an Rx to the pharmacy for Xyreme and Ambien. The pharmacist refused to fill the Rx due to the interaction between the drug and wanted to talk to her. She never returned the pharmacist call but instead contacted the manufacture of the drug and had the drug shipped in from the manufacture. The manufacture after speaking with my son also sent her a note via a fax that there is a contraindication with the drugs currently being taken. Dr. Graves gave the ok and had the product shipped to him. He got very ill and called her over and over she never returned his call. Needing to go to a doctor he decided to return to his General MD who felt that he was on to many drugs and began to withdraw him slowly, The withdrawal process would prove to be to much and he ended his life. He was 22. This could have been avoided . I urge anyone thinking about seeing her to run. I urge anyone who had an experience similar to this one to contact the Medical Malpractice Board. They would love to hear from you.

So far I love this dr and her staff...seems to really care about her patients and follows through on things that need to be done. I don't mind the extra wait time when she extends the same time for me.

Dr. Graves very thoroughly listened to my issues and tried to think of various problems which might be causing my breathing troubles. She was thoughtful, down to Earth and very interested in helping me. She obviously isn't a doctor who just dishes out medication to please pharmas. She was great and her staff was awesome at the Cherokee location. A second visit at the Smyrna location proved to be less useful with a long wait and rude nurse, but again, Dr. Graves was very good at that visit as well.

My first two appointments started after more than an hour wait, with the staff not asking for my new patient paperwork at appointment number one until it was too late and I was delayed further. My last "appointment" was canceled without my knowledge. I called that morning to confirm and was told, "oh she just decided not to open the office today." They scheduled my ASAP equipment delivery without telling me that I was recommended to be on hand; as it was, I had to rely on my wife for secondhand information. And Dr. Graves' attitude oozes "you're wasting my time and lucky to see me." I learned nothing from her. My worst medical experience ever.

Dr. Graves and those people in that sleep lab are just bonkers. They are a real team. Dr. Graves doesn't want to discuss anything in detail and when you ask questions she becomes defensive and argumentative. The staff in the sleep lab said they couldn't tell me anything about my test. They even refused to show me my test on the computer when I asked. They said they didn't know how to do that. They didn't seem very knowledgeable of their jobs.

Didn't advise of proper direction the process would take. Left out some very important information that would have cost me an additional $3000 for a second sleep study. Seems all the process should be discussed prior to commencing. On two occasions in seeing her, at her office, I was booked for the first appointment of her day. On the first visit, she was 45 minutes late without any notification from the staff. Sat me in a room and forgot me! That's really poor. Even after the first sleep study, when she had every opportunity to advise that a second would be recommended and required to get a CPAP, nothing was mentioned. It was the sleep study team that called and took the hit for me not being aware that Dr. Graves would not write a prescription for a CPAP without an additonal evening and that was over $3000. I wasn't frustrated and feel that I was misled. I spent well over $3000 and have nothing to show for it. Hopefully, they will get better at advising of proper protocols.
