I've had the worst experience at Dr Marquis's office in Mokena. I waited forever in his waiting room 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, and when I finally got tired of waiting, I got up and knocked on his door and found him to be surfing FB! His office was such a mess, I found it difficult to concentrate. What a nightmare! I wish I could give a negative score.

I first saw Dr Marquis about 12 years ago through a referral from a family member. It took a bit to get into see him, as he has many patients, but it was worth the wait! He treated my symptoms, which eventually improved along with therapy, but he mentioned that he thought the bigger problem was that I was ADHD. I didn't think so, but several years later when my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and I studied about it, I realized that the criteria fit me too--Dr Marquis was correct and the meds and my participation in a support group make a world of difference. He is really GIFTED at fine tuning meds for each individual, which my psychologist also agrees with. He keeps costs down by not hiring a receptionist and passes those savings on to his patients, which I appreciate. I find his office to be relaxing and clean. He doesn't hesitate to refer out for psychological testing when needed, and has always been clear about the specifics of our cases. My daughter started seeing him in junior high and still sees him now that she's in college as part of her treatment program. Dr Marquis has always been professional, caring, and up to date on current medications and treatments. I trusted him with my daughter's care when she was in junior high and he helped us navigate the disability maze at her school. He goes above and beyond what other psychiatrists tend to do--and actually spends the full hour with patients. Further, he promptly personally returns calls, which is very rare today. He told us up front that he will not prescribe meds if he has not seen the patient within 3 months, so we never had any problem with that--my pcp has the same policy. I can't explain how much Dr Marquis has helped us over the years. He is a truly dedicated physician! He told me that he works so many hours each week just so he doesn't have to turn away patients, and after he was out of the office recovering from an unexpected illness he continued to do so, but he did seem tired. I attributed that to his recent severe illness. I know of a patient he saw for free because he was drowsy at times during their session. Also, he does sometimes run late, but he will still give you the full hour--sometimes I'm sure patients' issues are so severe that he may need to take longer with them.

This doctor is not professional. The office in Mokena is filthy and there is no staff, just him. On several occassions he called me by the wrong name and confused me with other clients and their history. I would not reccomend trusting this doctor with your mental health.

3 yrs ago I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, a mild version of Bipolar. A few years prior, I saw Dr. Marquis. He never properly diagnosed me and made my condition worst. I was on a highly addictive depression med. I'd get "brain zaps" if I forgot a dose. It took me a year of misery to withdrawal from it. He wouldn't fill my meds unless I saw him. I would go through withdrawal until up to a month waiting. He asked me to diagnose myself with a book. He fell asleep on me several times. I thought I had ADHD, so he immediately gave me Adderall. The meds had adverse effects-causing an extreme episode. I was tired and he offered a script for meds that pilots used. I've been on the appropriate drugs and have recovered into a functional adult. My new Dr. orders blood tests and monitors me very closely. Don't trust Dr. Marquis, especially with a young child or young adult. He will push pills on them and rake in the money that you give him each visit, just to keep you coming.
