I was a patient Dr Kelly for 25+ years. I was desperate and naive. He overmedicated me. 10 + meds at one point. Terrible results. I was addicted to bentos for years. No therapy. Just meds. I was a Guinea Pig. Thumbs DOWN

I went to Dr. Kelly years ago. He tried everything with me. He never lost hope or gave up until he had me stabilized. He was a kind and gentle man that talk to me about video games I played as well as my suicidal ideation. I grew fond of him. I have since moved, but often think of him. He is not pretentious nor does he speak above you. He explains everything. I miss him and should write him to thank him again for getting me on the right track.

I went to Dr. Kelly several years ago. He diagnosed both my son and myself with bipolar disorder - He over medicated both of us, put me on a very high dose of thyroid medication without ever checking my TSH with a blood test. My son's medications were so high he was hallucinating. Neither of us are bipolar and both of us are now medication free (from: Abilify, Seroquel, lamictal, lithium, trazidone and this list goes on and on). I ended up needing thyroid hormone, but carefully regulated because it turns out I have hashimoto's disease. Dr Kelly is an extremely dangerous man. If you or a loved one go to him, please get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. It could be a matter of getting well or staying completely dependent on this quack. He should be in jail.

Although I always respect opinions of others...these reviews are incredibly inaccurate in my experience with Dr Kelly.

Allow me to explain I have been battling mental illness for 18 years. I've seen COUNTLESS shrinks and therapists. You want to talk about over medicating? These professionals went med happy with me. I was never suicidal but those side effects were bruuutal.

Dr. Kelly came highly recommended to me by several professionals in the Fort Collins area. I was pregnant at the time I met him. His diagnosis was spot on and he concocted a plan to get me through the mental strain being with child offers.

He is the ONLY psychiatrist who has ever helped me FINALLY make progress toward stability. He is careful and meticulous about dosages considering I'm nursing.

Recently my brother committed suicide and my mother attempted. You know who called me and was in my corner? Dr Tamas Kelly. I felt more than supported and that speaks volumes to his heart.

Regarding his staff... wow! Incrediblely professional and curteous. They even remembered my name without looking at the computer at my 2nd visit.

I have enjoyed my experience with Dr Kelly and his staff.

One more thing... to speak to his "soctal skills", he doesn't make a lot of eye contact. He doesn't have to. He needs to think and prepare for the next plan of action. Keep in mind most geniuses lack the BEST behavior in social settings. Hopefully you give him a break in the one area of weakness.

Wishing everyone well.

Sincerely,
Heather

Dr. Kelly prescribed me some extremely toxic and dangerous medications. I hope this clinic gets shut down soon. I used to have a friend whom is a patient of his that is just a Zombie.

Under Dr. Kelly's care, I was on 7 medications, including a dangerously high level of synthetic T3 (Cytomel). Over the course of treatment, my emotional state disintegrated, to the point where I was crying numerous times per day (I have never been one to cry). Additionally, he prescribed to me Nuedexta, and told me to augment it with Delsym...the result of which was a three day "robo-trip." I ended up in an endocrinologist's office owing to my medically induced thyroid dysfunction, and was told that I was lucky I had no underlying endocrine disorders, or else I would have likely ended up dead. Over a month's time, I was titrated down to nothing. I also ended up seeing another psychiatrist who was so disturbed over his treatment regiment that she had the medical director of the bipolar research clinic she worked for contact Dr. Kelly. Over a number of months, I slowly withdrew from five of the other drugs (Abilify, Latuda, Topomax, Nudexta, Lamictal). I am still withdrawing from the benzo...tapering off of it has been incredibly difficult. I now am on Remeron and Wellbutrin, and haven't been more stable in at least a decade.

The truth about Dr. Kelly. Dr. Tammas Kelly may be an expert on bipolar disorder. He diagnosed me with bipolar and I went to another doctor who has more experience than him, and they questioned why I was even diagnosed in the first place. I also found out the truth about Dr. Kelly from this doctor. Dr. Kelly has a very bad reputation among many medical professionals in our area. My current psychiatrist said that 10% of his patients have died of suicide after their first visit with Kelly. He over medicated people. Gave people medications that they were allergic too. He has no respect for his patients, especially the ones he has dangerously medicated that they ended up dead. Shame on Dr. Kelly. I'm in the process of finding a lawyer and suing him for medical malpractice!!

I suffer from bipolar II disorder. Over the years I saw three therapists 4 regular MDs and two psychiatrists. None of them managed to diagnose me correctly. Dr. Kelly makes you fill out a long questionnaire. By the time he interviewed me and reviewed the questionnaire he knew far more about me that all the other doctors combined. Dr. Kelly has more scientific publications on how to treat bipolar two disorder than anybody else in the world. I looked it up. I'm far better than I have ever been for 20 years and Dr. Kelly continues to work at getting the better. He doesn't give up and when I screwed up he didn't make me feel guilty. Also he's got a great sense of humor that helped me through my darkest moments.

Dr. Kelly worked with a sleep specialist to help diagnose a genetic disease in several members of our family. After searching for answers for more than 30 years, the Mayo Clinic, an untold # of doctors, huge financial cost, and literally hundreds of medication trials, Dr. K identified the disease within a week & began successful treatment. He was honest and up front about the treatment process, what is currently known about the disease, and provided resources to help us understand the disease. He has a dry sense of humor mixed with more compassion than any dr. I've encountered. His philosophy: he is always available for his patients & families, 24/7 365 days a year. He understands and works with the whole person, not just the medical condition. His staff is fabulous - best ever! His office deals with all the insurance issues & those without insurances. He also consults short & long term with out of area/state doctors & is actively involved in on-going research w/other specialists.
