If you want a doctor who actually cares about his patients then you will find it in Dr. Ryan. You will feel comfortable with him, and feel like someone is finally listening to you. He helps in ways that are above and beyond.

Dr. Ryan is an amazing doctor with the kindest heart, he's not only compassionate but is very knowledgeable. He is one of the best doctors and I know how he saved my life, I will forever be grateful! Dr. Ryan's office staff is amazing, along with the IBD Clinic nurses that are all an advocate and liaisons to communicate with Dr. Ryan at any given moment! Overall, I am so happy and grateful that Dr. Ryan is one of my incredible doctors!!

I wish all specialists were as attentive as Dr. Ryan. First visit he explained my condition thoroughly and gave me a diagram to take home with treatment written on it. When covid was an issue, he kept in touch by phone, on time. We have 3 members of our family receiving care from him. Very cheerful and helpful staff too!

I would not trust this physician with my disease or life. He lacks knowledge of new treatments and is dismissive and arrogant. Red Deer GI is a bad place to be if you have major problems

While Dr Ryan is exceptionally knowledgeable, his excessively busy schedule prevents him in providing quality healthcare. He cannot respond to patients and fails to become aware of their urgent treatment needs. He fails to issue the required specialty tests that would be required to diagnose internal GI Pain. He fails in his communication to the patient and does not provide the appropriate blood work, endoscopies, colonoscopies or PH Studies - even when the need is communicated through ER Admissions. In essence, his intentions are good but the execution of his intents are extremely poor. It's a shame when a patient has to file complaints with the CPSA and AHS Patient Relations to get help when in emergent, full scale GI distress. Over a one month time period I have lost over 60 lbs with no contact from my GI Specialist.

The only thing I could recommend for Dr. Ryan is to remove Dr. Simonds from his office. I feel sorry for Dr. Ward , Dr. Ryan and Dr. Mullen. They are literally rebuilding the horrible reputation that was crated by simmondds and amsnullah. Dr. Ryan is awsome. I just hope that Jason Kenney and his boyfriend Tyler Shandro don't make him angry enough to leave.
