I think Dr. Wright has been mischaracterized in the most recent review. Dr. Wright is a wonderful doctor. He collaborates with our family and delivers quality care to my son. My son has chronic pain and is often in agony from everyday tasks. Dr. Wright isn’t afraid to use some medications that others refrain from out of stigma, relieving the considerable burden of our son’s pain. Dr. Wright uses humour to ease our minds, jokes with my boy, and explains everything so we understand and can be a part of his care. He chats to my husband and me with such candour, it is refreshing.

If you can choose , go with anyone else. Dr Wright is a phony. He acts like he cares until I caught him making fun of my husband and my son right after he spoke to us and reassured us that our child would do well. He’s all smiles but it’s a big smokescreen. He’s also not a good doctor, careless and takes unnecessary risks. I wouldn’t recommend him to put my hamster asleep,

Dr. Wright goes out of his way to provide stellar patient care, knows how to talk to parents and is amazing with children. I have seen Dr. Wright talk to patients and he definitely knows how to put someone at ease. He gives his patients autonomy, includes them in their care and let’s them know what they are going into before they head into the operating room. Dr. Wright is brilliant at diffusing patient stress and is quick to problem solve. Dr. Wright is funny, professional, and dedicated to his job.

This is a thankful shout-out for Dr. Wright and the entire Pediatric Complex Pain Clinic team at the IWK! During her teen years, my daughter was referred to the IWK pain program for a condition that limited her activities and affected her schooling. The pain clinic team - including a nurse, psychologist, physiotherapist and anaesthesiologist – were true professionals. They showed respect for one another and for my daughter. Working collaboratively, they sought to understand my daughter’s condition (undiagnosed at the time) and they examined her symptoms. Then, Dr. Wright and the others offered superb advice and effective physical supports that allowed her to begin walking normally. She also received advice on hand control and hand pain, which allowed her to write and to manage other dexterity tasks a little more easily. When she refused pain medication because she was concerned about possible cognitive effects, Dr. Wright offered sensible alternatives. She also received coaching on managing the time and lifestyle requirements of her healthcare while continuing her studies. As a young adult, my daughter still struggles mightily with her health condition; however, thanks in large part to the guidance and solutions she received from the IWK Pain Clinic, she is able to live independently, study and work with enthusiasm and determination. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Wright, Dr. Gorodzinsky and the entire team. They are stars!
