Dr. Welsh has been our Family physician for 5 years. He is pin point accurate on diagnosis and very fast to diagnose issues as well. He is one of the most knowledgeable doctors I have ever met in my time. He has a great sense of humor and great with kids. (Big kids too :) )Not just knowledgeable in the medical field, but also has a great apptitude for the policies and regulations along with the politics as it relates to WorksafeBC and ICBC.

Very conservative, stuck in Victorian times, hesitant to refer to specialists; will not be contradicted or upstaged by other doctors. Assumes you are a moron; assumes you know nothing about your own body or health, no matter how educated you are on the subject in question or in general. Once he takes a position on something, he will not change it, no matter how wrong he is. I have heard a few people say he is rude and arrogant; I have not found him to be so. I think he just makes the mistake that a lot of very smart people make - he acts like he is smarter than everyone else. On a different note, he is always very late - often an hour or more. While this is incredibly annoying, he has occasionally spent more than the usual time with me - perhaps I needed it. When doctors are late, I think it is because they are tending to higher priority cases. I don't hold that against them.

Dr. Welsh is the most thorough GP I have had the pleasure of having for a doctor. His handy laptop is his best friend and he seems to find the answers within seconds. He remembers the family members and truly cares about our destiny. I wish he could have moved with us when we left Mission. He is very gentle and seems to have true feeling and time for his patients. I am glad he is in Canada.

The first two times I saw Dr. Welsh, I was surprised he had any patients. He comes across, initially to me at least, as very arrogant and no time for patients. The third time I went to see him I was prepared to ask him what was biting his butt, but he walked in and was great ever since. We've moved back to Alberta and if we were to go back to BC, I would look him up. He takes some getting used to but, for me, he was worth the wait.

A number of years ago I went to emerg where I used to live with sever pain in my low abdomen that felt like very strong period cramps. They assumed it was my Crohn's and sent me home. The same thing happened the next month but with more intensity and was finally admitted. When they could find nothing, they performed a laparoscopy. The Dr. severed my bowels in several places and I ended up in hospital for 1 1/2 months.A couple of years passed and a move to Mission and I had another attack. This time I went to the Mission emergency where Dr. Welsh was on duty that night.I explained the details of what happened before. He picked up on my saying it felt like spasms. He ordered all the same tests but added one drug that none of the others did.An anti-spasm medication.Within minutes the pain subsided.Problem solved.I couldn’t believe that I went through such a nightmare when I didn’t have to.I really like Dr. Welsh’s no nonsense approach to medicine.I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr Welsh is extremely knowledgeable. In his "objective manner", he truly cares and often provide information on all my options. His ultra-confident manner might come across to some as being arrogant, but he is actually quite a down to earth person with good family values. He is also quite worldly and matter-of-fact. Can't please everyone, but for me, he is a very good doctor and I am glad I have him to help take care of my health. I also truly enjoyed the intellectual conversations I have had with Dr Welsh, and comparing notes on our travels. He is a good man. The only drawback to his practice is that he is often behind time. However, that's due to scheduling by his staff. Besides, I'd rather a doctor who spends proper time with me than someone who rushes me through like an assembly line.

I love Dr Welch! He always takes me in on short notice and is quick to put me at ease! He has always been good to refer me or my kids to specialists and he listens and takes my concerns seriously! He is great with kids and they love him also! He is the best DR I've ever had!
