Dr Mennen operated a few times om my son, then 15 months old. My son had brain cancer. Dr Mennen was absolutely brilliant and his work on my son was worldwide admired. Dr Mennen is very professional. He had the shock of his life everytime that I saw him and threw my arms around his neck and hugged him. I could not help it. That was my way of showing my greatfulness. He was very baffled by me and said I'm the only patient,(mother of a patient) that has ever done that. I guess he started to get use to it 🤣. I will forever be grateful for all of dr Mennen's hard work and dedication to help my son on his yourney to recovery. I'm very sad to hear that dr Mennen has retired. I don't know if I can ever trust a surgeon like I trusted Dr Mennen. Have a peaceful and blessed retirement Dr Mennen. You deserve it. It's your turn to receive and not to always give. You are truly missed.

Ik weet niet of dit dezelfde dokter is....Een zoon misschien?
In 1991 ben ik geopereerd door Dr Joachim Mennen, Neurochirurg bij het Muelmed Hospitaal suite 515, 577 Pretoriusstraat ./St 577, Arcadia 0083 Pretora.
Het was amazing. Ik kon niet betalen, ik kwam uit Holland en mijn verzekering betaalde niet. Hij zei ,toen ik op controle kwam met een bloemenmand: 'Ek is a dokter, mense wat kan betaal, betaal, mense wat niet kan betaal, betaal nie. Ik ben hem dankbaar voor de gratis behandeling, maar ook voor de precisie waarmee hij mij geopereerd heeft aan mijn hernia. Als dat niet gebeurd was, was ik in een rolstoel terecht gekomen.
Misschien kunnen jullie deze woorden aan hem doorgeven vanuit een donker en koud Nederland, en ik wil jullie allemaal sterkte toewensen in deze moeilijke tijd,

Talks more about himself and his wine collection than listening to you. The receptionist is rude and also lied to the doctor in front of me regarding our conversation to make an appointment. He is the type of doctor who believes he is doing you a favour to see you and it's your privilege to pay him. There are many other Neurosurgeons in Pretoria who take the time to listen and not dismiss your pain as something trivial.

Do yourself a favour and find another doctor who actually cares about your health. I am not kidding about his wine. He has his own private cellar stacked with French and Italian wines which he does not drink. I had to pay him to listen to that story.

In 2017 i saw dr mennin for lower back pain. He told me to do an mri scan, there was a cyst on my ovari, and he said, oh theres your problem. And that was not the problem. I went on to see another dr just to find out that i have sciatic nerve neuropathy (which has absolutely nothing to do with my freaking ovaries). Will never go back to see dr mennen ever again. He made me understand that i am making up the pain. But he didnt even put in any effort to go and look for the problem.

This Dr is truly one off the best. But had a terrible experience with his receptionist. First time we sat in traffic from kemptonpark 2hours. She told me reschedule. I apologized and reschedule. Then i went thete on monday was there 8h00. Already. To scared to miss my appointment because off accidents on highways which i can do nothing abt. My appointment was for 11h00. So yes i was there in his rooms at 10h00. Very very rude she asked me..DO YOU KNOW your appointment was 11h00????. I went early to safe time for incase Dr Mennen wants to to xrays maybe..my husband was disappointed and said we leaving..so im still very sick. I just fell asleep. Dont know where to now.. His receptionist at unitas was always friendly..but twice now this..I AM HURT

Dr Mennen is fabulous, he is a firm believer that surgery is to be seen as the very last option. Charmaine and the staff is so friendly they makes you want to be sick everyday just to visit them.
