I have been seeing Dr Shaw-wood for years and have always been very happy with all he and his staff have done. What has changed is that he is apparently is moving towards retirement and in doing so has caused an awkward uninformed and what feels deceptive transition.
I had my usual appt booked and called into make a confirmation. I then found out they moved offices with no advice. I was told I would have been let known before my appt date. A few weeks later i received a phone call from the office questioning my address saying they had 2 files on me. They asked i arrive early for my appt so I could update their files. When I arrived early for my appt, no one was there at the counter, only a hygenist with a patient in one of the rooms. So i assume someone would be looking for me when the time came. I sat there for at least 15 minutes wondering if anyone would show up and acknowledge me there. The new location is cramped and it is a place that will now service something like 3 additional periodontists, one of them who travels back and forth from Alberta. Eventually the front counter person showed and gave me a questionnaire and a consent form to fill out as if I was a new patient. I asked why because they should already have all my info. I was told they will now be updating every 2 years now. Something that would be done for a new patient right down to my carecard info. My teeth were cleaned but not in the same thorough way. In addition to the cleaning, Ihad another concern that could not be addressed by the hygenist. And as no periodontist was in, a message/question would be left for Dr Shaw-wood. I asked how I would hear then about my question. I would told likely a call in a week or so. Then it came to me having to pay. They did not have my extended health carrier info any longer. I was told the previous office had an old system and they couldnt access the details from that system. Now I seeing they are billing procedures in a differing manner than previous. There is not one remaining staff at this new location. So i am thinking i have been shuffled off to a brand new businness under the facade of being an expanded version of the same. Not feeling confident.
