Dr Klar and his staff have always been thoroughly professional and friendly in every interaction that I have had with them. He did an outstanding job on my knee and I am confident that my knee replacement will make a huge difference to my quality of life. He receives my unqualified recommendation.

Two issues.
Dr Klar is not punctual. For Both my appointments (Tele and in person) Dr Klar was over half an hour late and he does not explain why or apologise.
Dr Klar is horribly over priced for surgery. After paying for my initial consultation and THEN getting the quote for surgery in which he quotes me 8 times the scheduled fee, I emailed Dr Klar to please explain why he charged so much, perhaps with a rate and hour breakdown. I also asked that if not could he please issue me a refund for the initial consultation as I would need to go see another surgeon (who charges about 2/3 would he does).
Dr Klar responded that his charges were for keeping up his skills. He also said I reserved the right to set his own fees in a private practice setting. He also compared himself to senior barristers that do the same.
He then said he had refunded my initial consultation charge and that our patient doctor relationship was over. Just because I asked him to explain his charges.
Warning.. if you get Dr Klar for a referral. Ask his possible costs before you go to see him.

This man is amazing. I call him Saint Brendan. My life has been transformed with my full knee replacement thanks to Brendan. The most caring and competent surgeon/consultant I have ever come across and believe me I have met a few over the last 60 years over 4 continents since the age of 10. A terrific human being coupled with incredible skills and knowledge. He uses the ROSA robot to optimise the procedure. Your knee is beautifully stitched back - not metal stapled. He has got it down to a fine art. His pre-op and post op consultation is second to none. He looks after you in hospital very well post surgery with constant visits. I cannot recommend Brendan highly enough if you want to de-risk this challenging procedure. But do the exercises. Within 6 weeks I was managing my internal steps. Recovery is not linear. Do not get discouraged when you feel you are going backwards. Brendan also has the pain killers down to a fine art. He takes his time when consulting with you one on one - never rushed. I cannot recommend Brendan highly enough. Make sure you get the benefit of the Robot if you go elsewhere - its a must.

Prior to receiving my January 2020 bilateral knee replacements I confess to having a limited understanding of what to expect following surgery. I had experienced a few unforeseen medical challenges and my post-surgery development didn't coincide with the printed 'daily progress chart'. Nevertheless, with Dr Klar's orthopaedic expertise and ongoing encouragement (together with my own hard work and determination) I am very satisfied with my current improved progress and walking ability, almost 4 months after my bilateral surgery, Thank you very much Dr Klar for your assistance - and my two 'new' straight legs!

Very honest and a real professional, Nothing was too much bother and the knee is amazing considering what it was like before and this only 8 months later. I could not recommend his staff more highly.

Brendan seems to more concerned about see as many people that he can, rather than the quality of service and being punctual. Leaving people waiting for more than 1hr is disrespectful.

Operation went well, fairly straight forward knee has been strong ever since 4 years post ACL Surgery, no issues

The operation seems excellent, but having been told beforehand most of the pain would be gone a few days afterwards, it is now many weeks later, and the pain is still pretty bad, at nights especially. Normal I know, but prefer to be told frankly in advance.

I have just completed my last appointment with Dr Klar, two years after my knee replacement. I have had an outstanding result with full knee extension and 140 degree flexion without pain. Dr Klar is one of the most empathetic and down to earth medical specialists I have ever dealt with and his skill, as also attested by others both here and that I have referred to him, is clearly second to none. He will push you to get the work done to ensure you get the best results but it is clearly worth the effort. I am 63 and am very glad that i did not listen to those who suggested putting off this surgery, it has had a life changing effect given how much more mobile I am now than I was just two years ago. Thanks to all involved .

I had a very bad experience where I waited two months for an appointment, arrived ten minutes early and then waited more than an hour to see the doctor. When he finally arrived in the room, it was almost 5 pm and I had just 12 minutes until I had to leave to drive back across town to pick up my children. Dr Klar made a halfhearted apology and suggested I reschedule since I could not stay. (As if his tardiness was my fault.) When I said it takes two months to get an appointment. She just shrugged. It was extremely disappointing that a doctor could have such little regard for a patient and their health.
