I had developed a complicated problem that required extensive work and follow up appointments. Dr. Pavlin and her staff were great and consistent to work with throughout the entire process! Dr Pavlin is great. I went for a second opinion two and a half years ago and she basically told me I don't need most of the work that was scheduled by another dentist. I was skeptical at first, but it turned out she was right. Two years later and all is well. I am so gratefull that she took the time to explain everything to me. The deep cleaning she recommended seemed expensive at first, but it was a hell of a lot cheaper than the implants the other doc wanted to do. Her honesty has saved a lot of my teeth that would have ended up with crowns and implants otherwise.

Instead of charging the contracted rates with the insurance company, in many cases her office charged me standard fees, which (as mentioned in similar Yelp.com reviews) are much higher than the insurance contract rates. When it happened the first time, I decided to let it go - after all we are human and we all make mistakes. Unfortunately I was trusting and paid cash upfront, before the insurance claim was filed. At the time I was told the issue would be taken care of (and unfortunately it never was 100% resolved). In the meantime I started a subsequent procedure (thinking it would be only a matter of time before the first claim would be resolved). Essentially billing errors occurred twice after the aforementioned procedure. This is when I decided it is time to leave.

Nice office. Dr. Pavlin is an artist when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. When it comes to regular cleaning, she's ok. Not as thorough. Her staff is a bit unhelpful and feels like they're still learning the ropes. Feels amateurish. Dr. Pavlin oftentimes has to correct the work of her assistants which does not instill confidence in the patient. Dr. Pavlin also scares you a bit with the "what if" scenarios - her bedside manner needs some work. I'm not particularly scared of dentists but I dread going to Dr. Pavlin sometimes because she's blunt and can recommend unneeded services (I have no insurance so every treatment is itemized). Be careful with the unnecessary x-rays or other treatments. She'll scare you into it. When it doubt, delay it or go to another dentist for a second opinion. She's a nice lady and her work is beautiful just a bit pricey and have thick skin when you go in.
