I've seen Dr. Natarajan for almost 5 years. He's honest with his patients and doesn't waste time dancing around a topic politely. I can see that this may not be the best approach to some patients, people want magical fixes for anxiety and depression and don't like to be told that medication won't help when the root cause is work or life and they need to fix those things to start feeling better. It's easier to blame your body or brain chemistry and say everything is out of your control than it is to recognize that you have a bad job or lack confidence because you made a choice to stop trying after high school. That took me years to recognize. I happened to see Dr. Natarajan at a point in my life where I was willing to reflect on that instead of just getting medication to make a problem disappear.

Dr. Natarajan has done more for me by giving basic advice and life suggestions in 10 minutes than other psychiatrists had done over the course of years of childhood over prescriptions for anxiety. I didn't have basic coping mechanisms for stress and wasn't in a good financial position when I first went to see him. He is only one of two psychiatrists I've seen who decided to check some other aspects of my life before metaphorically tossing a bottle of anti-depressants my way and calling it a day.

On behalf of a loved one: Dr. Dhanapal Natarajan is the saddest excuse for a psychiatrist that I have ever heard of. I thought maybe he just didn’t know what he was doing. So me and my husband went out of our way to get him the information he needed to properly diagnose him and he refused to look at it. He’s had uncontrolled blood pressure issues since he’s been on this medication that he was put on. No address to his overall health, no regular blood work nothing to make sure that he was healthy. So again, we did the work and found a psychiatrist that would take us on, but trying to get the referral out of him is absolutely impossible. Says it’s not within his control. And for somebody who can advocate for themselves, medically depend on the doctors. This doctor cannot be trusted, and he is again. A very, very very sad excuse for a psychiatrist psychiatrist are supposed to help people. There are real psychiatrists out there if your struggling please keep up your search and find someone new!

At first when I read the reviews on here, I took them with a grain of salt as someone with mental illness may have impaired judgement and be upset with a diagnosis or recommendation.
As a parent of someone mentally ill, I can tell you that this Doctor causes more harm than good. It is so hard to find decent mental health professionals in Regina that it is hard to not just say he is better than nothing, but he really isn't.
Dr. Natarajan prescribed my daughter an antidepressant which then brough forward a bipolar condition. I now know better and that this can actually happen which all other health care providers now tell me he should have known too! He then said that we should throw my daughter out and let her fend for herself after being released from the hospital. Appointment after appointment, he just kept writing prescriptions, but not offering any solutions, just saying he can't make her do anything.
The G.P. and therapist tried over and over to meet with him and obtain updates to try and help my daughter, but Dr. Natarajan refused, kept making excuses and saying it was them and not him.
Also, while in the mental health ward, they reached out for information from Dr. Natarajan to treat my daughter and her files were marked the wrong year, so everything was disregarded by the hospital.
Stay away!

have been seeing this doctor for over 5 years and finally gave up. he refused to help me with my anxiety and told me to my face, "i dont know how to help you." when i refused to take effexor because i had had a severe reaction to it in the past. Is also obsessed with persrcibing wellbutrin alongside everything, when wellbutrin gives me WORSE anxiety. he doesn't listen to his female patients at all and is extremely condescending.
and to top it all off, his reception hours are from 11am-3pm, and no one ever answers the phone. so good luck trying to get a hold of him when you need. He also leaves his patients without warning for 1-2 months in the winter.

Just leaving my appointment with Dr. N and cannot express how disappointed I am in his “care”. Throughout our appointment he continually cut me off and rushed me through explaining my symptoms. He had me diagnosed with a totally new disorder within 10 minutes of our appointment and when I asked questions about how he arrived at this conclusion, I was told I do not know what I am talking about and silenced. Told me to stop taking my medications of 3 years over a course of two weeks and then, when leaving Dr. N’s office I was told to not bother booking a follow up appointment. Believe the reviews. I should have. Biggest waste of time I’ve had with a “doctor”.

I just had an apt with Dr. Natarajan. I mentioned that I has seen psychiatrists in the past and want to start fresh.
He said I am depressed and need medication. I said I am here to work on my anxiety. I had way too many side effects from meds. I have to work, and having nausea and brain fog is not going to help me. He said it would only be 2 weeks.
Said he can set me up with the TMS within 5 minutes of my apt.
I got no info on this treatment, from him or the receptionist. I asked the receptionist if we could discuss this in private and not in front of other patients. She refused to listen. Booked my apts and that was it. I waited 45 minutes for a 10 minute apt as a first time visitor.

He doesn’t listen at all. It came to the point that I, a young adult, had to bring my mom into an appointment like a child. He listened to her, but claimed I hadn’t told him any of the things I’d tried to convey to him after he’d made his decision. He decided what to do medication-wise about 10 seconds into the appointment and I spent the rest of the time talking to someone who didn’t look up from his notes and trying to understand how what he prescribed without understanding the current situation would help me.

Went to him with extreme depression in 2016 and he was able to help. Then in 2020 my depression completely overtook my life. It was awful. When I went to him for help, he reluctantly prescribed an increased dose and told me: “you need to actually do some of the work, medication isn’t magic.” I’ve been attending therapy biweekly since 2016 and have been working very hard on my health. I’ve been doing the work. Like you want me to go to yoga when I haven’t left bed or showered in 3 days? His comment was just unhelpful and condescending. Par for the course with him in my experience.

Dr Natarajan saved my life. I found him to be the most caring doctor ever. He prescribed the best medication to get me on track again. I was enrolled in the TMS program which really helped me. I found him so easy to talk to and he even asked how I was every day that I came in for my TMS treatments. I highly recommend him.

Condescending psychiatrist not interested in well rounded care, but rather condescension and pill pushing.
Trash in a lab coat.
