Mr. Ormond visited my hospital room on behalf of family first pediatrics the day after my daughter was born. We chose to forgo her HepB shot upon my daughters birth. After her heart rate dropping during delivery, being born with low blood sugar, and a rough entrance into this world, I didn’t want to give her body another thing to fight off. I discussed this with my labor & delivery nurse and she said hepB was a “bonus” vaccine at birth that I could start at her 2 month visit if I wanted. That’s exactly what I did. I have no problem with vaccines and actually advocate for them. Mr. Ormond entered my daughters room in the special care nursery due to her complications and said “I see you didn’t get the hepB vaccine, you should probably find another practice if you’re not planning to vaccinate her”. I explained that I had no problem with vaccinations, but considering her circumstances including already being pricked every three hours for low blood sugar tests, I wanted to wait to start hepB until her 2 month visit.
After 36 hours of labor, 72 hours in the special care unit after her birth, and the extremely stressful circumstances we were under, I found this to be incredibly poor taste. I am a first time Mom doing what I thought was best for my baby. I knew she wouldn’t be leaving the house for her first 2 months of life, and did my research to know it would be fine to start the hepB vaccine then. I felt incredibly degraded and belittled by Mr. Ormond. Both my husband and I have post graduate degrees and he treated us like we were incompetent. It was incredibly poor timing and very rude to spoke to us the way he did. I would recommend Mr. Ormond check his bedside manner and consider each individual patients circumstances before making bold, blanket, and rude statements.

Dallen has been my doctor for as long as I can remember, and he has never failed to solve each and every problem i've brought to him over the years. An honest, good hearted and hard-working man.
