Nice guy, friendly and funny, but...
Failed to investigate abnormal thyroid test results which allowed a large nodule to continue growing and affecting patient for 6+ years. Required a hemithyroidectomy once another doctor noticed the large lump on my neck!
Also failed to fully investigate chronic anemia, just kept ordering iron supplements and transfusions that didn't actually help. Thankfully the new dr is fully investigating.
Also prescribed SSRI's to a young male without investigating other, more appropriate options

He prescribed me an MAOI antidepressant for insomnia. He failed to mention any foods or drugs to avoid in combination with this medication which can cause life threatening serotonin syndrome and hypertensive crisis. The MAOI medication only gave me the worst insomnia I'd ever experienced. He then prescribed be sleeping tablets to take with the MAOI medication. It didn't make sense to take both medications which seemed to be working against each other. It didn't work so I stopped taking the combination of medications before long. Dr Heise has also had issues diagnosing a family member so they also sought medical help elsewhere. Although Dr Heise seems to mean well he unfortunately has demonstrated a lack of awareness to pick up on some medical issues and also forgotten to discuss significant risks associated with medications. I would recommend NOT seeing this doctor.
