I also was concerned about my visit after reading the reviews below. I had some issues with front office staff but once I actually saw the physician I was impressed. I've had headaches for years and finally they are starting to get better. More importantly I understand what I can do to help with my symptoms.

I had a great experience. Dr. Hartshorn took time explaining my condition and talked about different options.

She didn't seem to care. I got the impression that she is in it for the money, only the money. Without reviewing my records she recommended I change medications. When I asked about the medication she recommended, "What research have you done on this medication?" She replied, "I'm going by what the sales rep told me." That is not a proper response. She didn't even research the very medicine she wanted me to start taking. When I went to a follow up, she had me see a Nurse Practitioner instead of an actual doctor. This NP had never worked with people that have my condition. I would not recommend Dr. Hartshorn nor would I recommend any Mission Hospital related office.

Dr. Alendia Hartshorn's response
Thanks for your candid feedback. Our practice does not endorse the opinions of sales reps and rarely even allows them into the office. With each new medication I do very thorough independent research. To keep costs affordable I recommend inexpensive generics whenever possible. I hope you will give us a second chance to provide you with excellent care.

I saw some of the reviews below before my appointment with Dr. Hartshorn, so I was wondering about her expertise. I totally disagree with the negative reviews. I found Dr. Hartshorn super sharp, comforting, and very pleasant to work with on my neurological issues. This young woman is recently from the Ivy League Dartmouth Med, so the brain power is obvious, and she had a great demeanor during my visit. I look forward to recommending Dr. Hartshorn to anyone needing a neurologist in Western North Carolina.

I went in to Dr. Hartshorn with terrible pain in my lower back that I had been experiencing for the past 7 months. She ordered an MRI (which the radiologist said came back normal). Later at an appointment with her she noted several things abnormal on the MRI, but stated that they could not be causing me any pain. She then refused to document her findings because "the radiologist had already given me the report" (with incorrect findings). She does not listen to the patient and tries to make the patient fit a textbook diagnosis. I am in the process of trying to find a new neurologist who is more knowledgeable.

Dr. Hartshorn was very detached, unfriendly and hard to talk with. I will not go back to her office.

I couldn't get in to a more experienced doctor in this practice even though I had no feeling in my feet, hand, and lower face, and couldn't walk, balance, and had a lot of pain and weakness in my arms and legs. In August they gave me an appt. for Dec. 6. with Dr. Rardin. I finally called them back to see if they could do something to get me in. Dr. Hartshorn was just added to the practice and they got me in quicker to see her. After listening to me she said she had no idea what was wrong with me. Had never heard of anything like it. After visiting in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where we have a condo, I got neck spasms and went to my GP there. She referred me to Dr. Carrasquillo. She diagnosed me right away and was excellent. I called back to Dr. Hartshorn's office to see if I could change to Dr. Rardin--a more experienced doctor. They said they would check and call me back but never did call me back. I finally called them again and they said no on changing doctors. Frustrating!!!
