went to Herman for a regular check up and paused for a split second when choosing between 2 options because they both looked similar only for him to say "stop thinking and just choose one". rude and arrogant at best, however his other associates were a lot more professional.

I saw Dr. Shen three times. I was concerned about my eyes and trusted him when I had an eye disease. His attitude is not bad, but I don't think he is professional. After examing my eyes, he told me I was fine and had to wait two months for another exam. However, my eye was blocked with black and very uncomfortable, so I saw another eye specialist. I was at high risk of blindness and immediately got a prior eye surgery.

Staff are always nice. Appointments are always delayed and and late by even more than 45 minutes. Herman Shen always blames contact lenses incidents on bad sleeping posture and other random excuses. A lot of my friend say the same thing about him. Always blaming our contact lenses incidents on dry eyes. He has a business personality, not doctor like. Only cares about his money and business.

Great friendly staff that have been there for years. Dr. Shen has always been courteous and caring. He’s always careful in doing a thorough eye exam. During emergencies, he has always solved every problem. He is also one of the best ortho-k doctors there is. My son has been his ortho- k patient for years. So has many friends. Dr. Shen has produced great results in controlling their prescriptions.

My wife feels something cover on her right eye on Mar 7, 2019. The second day she made an appointment with Dr. Herman Shen in Metrotown Centre near to T $ T super market on March 11. He did optical and intraocular pressure test. Then he said both eyes pressure are fine, right eye is 19 and left eye is 25. But he said look like eyes are dry, so he gave a lubricant eye drops-Systane 1.5ml, It cost me $50. Also mentioned to make anoth appointment on March 25. When we came home to apply eye drops, it cause painful on right eye and became to red eye as well. I called Shen’s office to report the situation. The receipt told us to stop the gaven eye drops and wait for Dr. Shen call me back. but we don’t receive any calls from Shen office. Therefore we decided to make an emergency appointment with Dr. Hwang on March 13 at 14:45. He found my wife right eye intraocular eye pressure is 57. He said her eye is in very serious condition that may causes blindness. Then Dr. Hwang did several time treatments to try to release pressure on the eye. He also called 4 of eye specialist to make an emergency appointment, finally he made a priority appointment with Dr. Gills at early morning on 8am in Eye Care Centre Vancouver. My wife and me stay there since 8am until 2:30pm. Dr. Gills did his professional treatments to solve the problem. He save my wife eyes without blindness. We are very lucky to meet Dr. Hwang and Dr. Gills they are very enthusiastically and kindly with patients. We are very disappointment about Shen and staffs. I don’t recommend to see Shen if you have a problem on your eyes.

Shen only cares about money, if you don't buy glasses at his store he will refuse to give you the PD, which by law is required to be given with the prescription.

Dr Shen is very caring and always wants to make sure I understand my prescription or any other problem that I may have. He's very kind and patient with my kids. My kids always enjoy going to get their eyes checked by him. He's always very busy, so I have to wait a long time sometime. However, I understand he has a lot of patients who want to see him and so people have to wait because he falls behind in his schedule, just like any other good doctor. Be expected to wait, but you'll get a great doctor.
