Exceptionally incompetent. Continually made my feel as though I was wasting his time, rarely showed any interest in what I had to say, devoid of compassion and empathy. Repeated failure to remember my medication names and dosages, could not recall comorbidities. Would force me out the door, genuinely didn't care and made me feel insignificant.

Surprised at the negative reviews. Found him to be very helpful and straightforward.
I think some people want an agony aunt instead of a doctor. Dr Pai is a knowledgeable doctor.

Very quick appts that got shorter each time. Did not seek constructive discussion or even ask questions about my feelings or thoughts, and I felt like he either just sat there looking at me or his computer. After multiple appts finished feeling more helpless and worthless.

Does not take an interest in his patients, reads confidential reports out infront of the reception area with others to hear. Rushes you out by opening the door and pushes you out after being in there for 5 min and then charges $70(after medicare rebate)

Incompetent psychiatrist. I saw Dr Pai for help with managing bipolar earlier this year. He didn't listen to anything I said, wouldn't look at me, and then spoke about himself and all his contribution to schizophrenia research, followed by a 10 minute lecture about how there is no evidence of a distinction between Bipolar I and Bipolar II while name dropping published medical authors and citing studies as if that made his opinion reputable. I've never heard of a psychiatrist rejecting DSM disorders before. I have experienced severe depressive episodes since the age of 11, but because I never acted on suicidal thoughts or self harmed in a way that he considered traditional I was invalidated and told that "there's a difference between being sad and being depressed". Despite saying he doesn't specialise in bipolar disorder he couldn't wrap his head around the timeline of my episodes (probably because he doesn't believe Bipolar II is real) and essentially accused me of making up my symptoms. He was then stuck on the idea that I haven't been in or been intersted in being in a relationship since my last one ended four years ago. I don't know how this is relevant or why it was brought up and continued to be pressed. He contacted a previous psychiatrist without my permission, and then spoke to my Psychologist and was incredibly rude, dismissve and invalidating of her and her professional opinion as someone who has treated me multiple times a week for a year. He also ranted about his research on schizophrenia and his theory of Bipolar I and II on the phone to her. He's a very bizarre man. I left the appointment crying and have been completely discouraged from finding a new psychiatrist since. The ONLY positive is that it's bulk billed, so he's significantly cheaper than other Psychiatrists. As he should be.

I was sceptical when I read the reports before consulting him. I must say my experience is quite contradictory. I am glad that I was reviewed by him!
exemplary knowledge and skills; values his and his client's time and is supported by good reception staff.

Cold and very disinterested. Has no idea has to treat people with mental illness. Also got the I am a busy man speech and felt could not ask a question. Only third visit had no idea what we were doing there. looking for someone else urgently. Makes the consult very uncomfortable and unapproachable.

Appalling, inconsistent, disengaged, should not be in practice. Little to none after care. Ridiculously difficult to get in touch with on the phone - and if you are successful in managing to speak with him, you are swiftly dismissed because “I’m very busy” he certainly likes to let you know how busy HE is and you’re left feeling guilty for disturbing the man. Anyone considering Pai as a psychiatrist needs to be aware of his lack of after hours patient care. He’s very “busy” don’t forget and you, well as a patient, you are ‘unhinged ‘in some capacity and ultimately vulnerable which seemingly serves Pai’s style of patient care. There is much more to information to pass on about him such as incredibly poor bordering on apathetic treatment of patient who desperately needed paperwork and medical history passed to another physician- long story short - don’t see this man. It’s not worth the potential hassle that I have just endured. Deserves leas than one star.
