I I have been a patient of Dr. Mossman for nearly 30 years.
He has never been less than excellent, attentive, thorough, and very informative, when prescribing the best medication for my condition, never hesitating  referring  to another specialist, when needed. People with conditions/diseases of unknown causes and no effective treatment cant be easy, especially when  some  have high expectations  and assume the treatment they receive should be covered by the Consumers Guarantee Act.
Enjoy your retirement  Stuart.

Dr Mossman has monitored the atlantoaxial instability of my son with Down Syndrome for a number of years. I have always found him to be thorough and caring and well informed concerning the condition.

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS MAN - HE IS UNSAFE, RUDE, A LIAR AND OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY. IF YOU HAVE SEEN HIM AND ARE NOT HAPPY, GET A COPY IF YOUR FILE NOTES AND ENSURE THEY ARE ACCURATE - MANY ARE NOT - AND IF YOU KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG FOR YOU, GET A REFERRAL TO A REPUTABLE SPECIALIST AND DO NOT GIVE UP !
MOSSMAN COVERS HIS OWN BUTT BEFORE ( IF EVER) PUTTING RIGHT HIS MISTAKES WITH HIS PATIENTS - WHICH IN MY CASE HE HAS OMITTED TO DO FOR THE PAST 20+ DESPITE BEING ASKED NUMEROUS TIMES TO DO SO. INSTEAD HE HAS LIED AND
COVERING UP HIS BEHAVIOUR WITH OTHER MEDICAL AND NEUROLOGY STAFF AS WELL.

I have consulted a Barrister about taking Mossman to court - the charge - Defamation by Omission. This, after he misdiagnosed me with anxiety and a lot of test results etc that showed abnormalities which he ignored. In 20+ years has never corrected anything and I have nothing wrong except anxiety according to Mossman. After four years of being told this and me telling him he was wrong - he ordered a spinal fluid test for oligoclonal bands (telling me it would hurt and he hoped it would hurt enough to stop me bothering him any more- and it would not show up anything anyway..
The results, which I got from Wellington Hospital within weeks of the test being done -,but took him nearly seven months to get them to my GP and me and- showed that the number of bands had increased since 1992 - during the time I had been seeing him. We had written to him and asking for an explanation and had letters back over some months -saying a letter had been written and we would get it soon. We did not. This happened twice in 7 months. I had an advocated meeting at that time with him and a number of other people where he said he had sent my results to his lawyer thinking I was going to sue him and he could contact us until he got the ok from the lawyers. He also said that Yes, there was a neurological disorder present, Yes it had been there since I started seeing him; No I was not going to get better. I asked him to put my file right and next to every judgement of his about anxiety, nothing wrong etc, he was to put a copy of the test results and a letter stating there was and had been something neurological wrong with me all the time he was seeing me. This has never done and my file stands as I have only anxiety and there is nothng wrong. I have been trying for the past 20 years for him and the hospital to put my file right and he has not done so
. THIS IS UNSAFE !
I made complaints to Privacy and Health and Disability Commissions. Mossman lied to them, telling both my file had been sent to the wrong hospital and that is why he took so long to get us the results of the spinal fluid test to us .NO mention of sending my file to his lawyers. I now have the paperwork to show that he lied to them and other people at that time as well as still doing so 20 years later.
I have had a significant number of humiliations with other medical people who read Mossman's judgements , and like him, dismiss me also if I have been referred on to them by my GP.. On one occasion, my GP sent me to Keneperu Hospital when I was having a flare up. The Registrar phoned ahead to Wellington Neurology and Mossman answered. I had not seen him for at least four years when he told me there WAS something wrong. He told the Registrar -
without seeing or talking with me- that it was just an ear infection and to send me home. I would not be seen at Neurology if I went in there. There were many times like this.
HE WAS COVERING UP AGAIN and because i felt so ill and could not walk properly, my eyes had constant abnormal movements and I had abnormal reflexes I could not fight him at this time. However, after the last Medical person recently telling me that there was nothing in my file to say I had anything wrong I have decided to fight Mossman through the court. It will also expose his duplicity and incompetence.. I have tried for years to get my file altered and am sick of fighting a system that seems impervious to the Human Rights Code of Conduct. I will let the Commissions and the courts fight for me. I have all the paperwork to show that Mossman lied about the first time.
There are pages more I could add with more of the same........- instead I would ask that anyone who has had a bad experience with Mossman and wants to do something about it to contact me. My number is 04 902 2853.
I am a journalist and believe it in the public interest to know about this man. and his behaviours towards his clients. and his dangerous lack of safety for his clients. He has been telling people ( mainly women ) for at least the past 25 years that their problems are psychological
NOT OK MOSSMAN!
I am sorry that some of you had similar treatment to me - it should never have happened and the "bad" is his.

Arrived late, hadn't prepared in advance. Wrote a letter full of inaccuracy and supposition. Incompetent. Seemed inacaple of hearing or comprehending what I said, slightly senile perhaps. No follow up. Misdiagnosed and underdiagnosed. Left in worse care than before. Prescribed medication contraindicated for my condition. Not interested in my health, no explanation of results, no explanation of the risks of my disorder, reluctant to communicate. Discarded me with pain level of 9/10 and cognitive impairment and with full knowledge that GP would do nothing. Inhumane.

I had the misfortune of having this doctor when i had a stroke at a young age. He was sure i had mental issues. I was left in hospital corridor for hours, i had an exaggerated gate which he and another doctor made fun of, I was not given the anticoagulants i needed and have permanent damage because the right scan wasnt done until days later. Still very angry and that was 9 years ago.

Incompetent receptionist. Not happy with the lack-of service and lack-of caring about the patients needs. Felt it was all about working around the doctor when a mistake had been made. Will never book here again.

Dr. Mossman went above and beyond for me when I came to him after an odd and concerning series of headaches. He listened to me and took me very seriously, asked plenty of questions, and walked me through his thinking for all possible options. He erred on the side of caution, and checked up on me regularly to see how I was doing. Dr. Mossman is an incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate man, and I wouldn't hesitate to send others his way.

Dr Mossman has monitored and prescribed for my migraines for many years. He changed my previous medication, which did not work effectively and left me nauseated. Without his excellent care and prescription for a newly released drug my migraines would be crippling as I get them very frequently. He is always prompt with appointments and providing new prescriptions. He regularly follows up to check how frequent and severe my migraines are, checking my blood pressure etc, and that the medication is working effectively. I am getting the best possible treatment for my condition and have no hesitation in recommending Dr Mossman to others. He is highly professional, very thorough and keeps himself up to date on the latest treatments. I found him absolutely sympathetic to my migraines and the debilitating effects they have.

Why, oh why had I not read Mossman's ratings before I paid him $650.00 for the worst doctor/patient relationship ever. His receptionist never greeted me! So I sat down and wondered if she ever would. I then introduced myself. Mind you, the waiting area was empty buy for me. I should have trusted my instincts upon meeting Mossman, who is an arrogant, cold, narcissistic person more concerned with the trappings of his income, than with his profession. I should have listened to my orthopedic surgeon who, beforehand, had laughed whenever I asked him about any good neurologists on the North Island. Mossman basically gave me a "garbage can diagnosis" because he didn't care to explore. Beware of a man who hangs "persian" carpets on the wall above the exam table.
