I saw Dr. KAPLAN due to pain in my neck, shoulder, radiating down an arm and around my scapula, which has been very painful and debilitating for several months, but worsened in the past month. He literally spent about 3 minutes with me, and was very cold and dismissive. My husband and I were appalled, as we had hopeful expectations of this visit, to address the terrible pain I have been experiencing.
When he walked into the room, he didn't greet me, and just said, "Okay, just get up on the table ", in a very cold manner. Then he told me to bend my head down and back, touched ONLY the back of my neck and asked if it hurt. I told him that it isn't too painful because I am taking the pain medication
He said that my recent Cervical MRI looked better than the last one two years ago.
When I asked him WHY I was experiencing the terrible radiating shoulder, arm and scapula pain, he DIDN'T answer my question. He just said that I need physical therapy.
I left feeling very upset and discouraged with my visit with Dr. KAPLAN.

I started out with Dr. Kaplan, many years ago, in East Boston Pain Clinic. He then went to Cambridge Health Alliance for awhile, I saw him there. Honestly, Dr. Kaplan can be in very moody at times, and doesn't want to listen to what the patient has to say ! In East Boston, he made me suffer in pain for 2 years before medicating me. He sent me for consults with other Boston doctors that did nothing for me. He was a good doctor once upon a time, but I have not seen him in years, due to the personality and treatments, I became very disgusted with this doctor ! Antonette Royce RNC BS CS/ Paralegal

I've visited a number of dr's including physiatrists in the past 14 years since an accident.I was referred to Dr. Kaplan to deal with pain & neurological symptoms that had been consistently present for 4 months.Previously, the longest issue I had lasted only 2 weeks and mostly the symptoms would last only a few days. Dr, Kaplan's initial evaluation was the most inadequate evaluation I had from any physician including my primary care dr. in 14 years. The entirety of my initial visit was approximately 8 minutes. There was no base line strength or neurological testing. No review of current medication or suggestions of adjustments that could be made. He was not very receptive to dialogue and minimally responsive to questions. I have had one emergency surgery and still have 2 ruptured discs in my neck. He didn't address even the basics of my current condition. My visit with Dr Kaplan was a complete waste of time and not one I wish to repeat. Hopefully, it was just an off day for him.

I HAVE SEEN THIS MD FOR ALMOST 7 YRS., FOR PAIN SHOTS IN NECK/BACK/HEAD. HE IS THE ONLY MD I WOULD CONSIDER FOR TREATMENT OF CHRONIC PAIN CONDITIONS & NERVE BLOCKS ! :-) THE "BEST".
