Dr. Ben Wheeler was very helpful. I was there on Wednesday afternoon, so it wasn't busy. He was taking extra time for my exam and explain my vision.

He is a very well experienced doctor. He knew the material and we look forward to seeing him again.

I have had two exams with Dr Wheeler at Walmart. The last one was on a busy Saturday morning. I recommend going on another if you don't want to wait. He was very helpful in resolving an issue with my tricky glasses prescription and took extra time to explain the changes I would experience with the prescription change he made. He prescribed no line trifocals that were hard to get used to at first but after I got used to them they work so much better when I'm using my computer. Also he helped me get the right kind of eye drops for my eye dryness. instead of visine. This has been a big improvement.

However even though the doctor is great at what he does his office seems to be understaffed and the front desk person kept leaving us alone in the waiting area. They had some trouble looking up my eye insurance and it took a little longer to get through the whole process. Initially I also had a problem getting an appointment because the office is only open Wednesday through Saturday.

I've had 3 experiences with Dr. Wheeler and his associates: 2 in person, 1 over the phone. The wait times were ridiculously long--I was told my first appointment would take 30 minutes, but I was there between 2.5 and 3 hours because they were so behind. The second visit was similar. Both times, the associates were inattentive and unhelpful as though they couldn't be bothered to help anyone anymore than they absolutely to, borderline rude, and didn't know what they were doing--I say that not as a mean-spirited cheap shot, but literally each time, someone else had to take over for one or two of them who were entirely out of their depth. As for Dr. Wheeler, he was okay--he seemed relatively competent enough, but he was rushed both times (moreso the first time because he had plans and I was his last appointment of the day). He wasn't rude, but he was brusque and not all that personable. (The rudeness may have come into play during the phone episode detailed below.)

My phone conversation was characterized by intense rudeness and unmitigated attitude by the associate to whom I spoke. It took numerous attempts over several days to get ahold of them in the first place, as their lunch breaks are seemingly quite long and it almost always went to voicemail, regardless of the time of day at which I called (and all of this was after I had left a voicemail that was summarily ignored). The associate on the phone argued with me incessantly, continually tried to get out of helping me by saying that somehow all of my records were lost (though I knew for a fact that that was not true), kept changing her story, was extremely lazy as I had to literally beg her to help me, and from the get go, was supremely negative. She kept bringing "issues" up that were clearly illogical and ran counter to both the facts and my experiences, and wouldn't listen when I pointed that out. Regardless of the rudeness, I was never anything but friendly and polite, yet all I got in return was, "I can't do this," "I probably can't help you," "There's nothing I can do," and the like; all of which was said in an irritated, condescending tone (after repeated, tremendously long pauses). Eventually - after I asked her several times - she supposedly spoke to Dr. Wheeler about helping me extend my contact prescription (which had only *just* expired, and I gave her not one, but two very good reasons why extending the prescription was the only option available to me). When she got back on the line, she repeatedly said he was "unwilling to help" me, and cited a reason that directly contradicted something he himself had told me in person during my last visit. Whether or not she actually spoke to him or simply fabricated that exchange, I don't know (though I suspect the latter is certainly possible). Regardless, it was one of the most unpleasant, ridiculously unprofessional and rude exchanges I've ever had.

All in all, I've found the associates to be terrible; the time management of all involved to be absolutely awful; and the way they relate to patients ranges from brusque to flat-out rude. I cannot recommend these people to anyone, and I'm glad that I've since relocated and never have to deal with them again.

This so called doctor was very unprofessional. He would blow off my comments and was rude to my 6 year old son during the exam, telling him "not to move this way" mocking his movements. Also, he could not see in the back of his eyes and he was like "I can't see anything" in a mean manner. Also, I asked him about my vision being like my son's and what prescription I had, he said "I have no idea" and I asked about the polycarbonate lenses and he blew it off and said that I would have to ask the tech. When we were leaving my son did not have his glasses on and he said "He should wear those" mocking him saying he could not see. He was very aloof, unprofessional, negative, and rude and I do not plan to ever go there again!!!!!!

I went to Dr.Wheeler on 03/21/2014, he was very arrogant and condescending, he knew what he was talking about when it comes to his profession but he didn't have a very friendly or even polite manner about him, and the lady at the front desk was also not very welcoming..they both seemed like it was almost an inconvenience that I was there. I won't be needing another eye exam anytime soon but I sure wouldn't ever go there again if I did.

This man is the worst doctor! I didn't know if he was a doctor or not! The whole staff was horrible and not welcoming at all! The doctor was very rude and half of his staff left us for lunch. There was a patient that had trouble with a putting his contact in his eye and the staff did not care. The doctor was mean and kept saying ," Appointments are priority". His staff left us for hours and the place was unsanitary. I will never go there ever again and I don't advise anyone else to go there. If lunch is so important to you than you should've told us! He did not wash his hands before he touched his patients or anything. They should clean up their place because It was filled with dust. I hope walmart fires him, I wonder how he got his college degree!!

Doctor was very knowledgeable and fit me in new multifocal contact lenses that let me see at all distances without readers. Staff was very helpful with me using my insurance.
