I am most grateful to have had Mr Byrnes as my Consultant at UHL and my surgeon at St John's Hospital Limerick in 2020. I found him to be an excellent surgeon and an approachable & humane person.

Mr Byrnes was a most caring medical professional and he restored my faith following a difficult experience with our health care system at a time when I was quite vulnerable. He's an experienced and highly skilled surgeon with an excellent follow through. It is fortunate that we have human and empathetic doctors like Mr Byrnes working in our public hospitals.

Honestly the most uncaring healthcare professional I had the horror of having as my surgeon. His approach is outdated. He will not listen to your concerns and will brush off any genuine concerns you have. My nurse recommended I get a new specialist (after 2 years under his care) as mr byrnes is truly outdated and lacks any care for patients. (In my experience) this man had taken years of independence from me with his lack of care, his attitude towards chronic pain , his attitude towards young women. I genuinely fear for anyone who has him as still has him as a specialist.
