Angela Miller was my midwife when I gave birth at UNC in January of 2014. I always enjoyed prenatal visits with her, and she facilitated my partner being able to hear our baby's heartbeat when he wasn't able to be there in person. I was glad when I arrived at the hospital in labor that she would be the one helping me deliver. She kept me informed, treated me with respect, and as a result I felt calm and empowered throughout a long labor and intense delivery. I have since heard so many stories of women being treated like children, or like obstacles to their own treatment, that I felt I had to put another narrative into the world. We brought a beautiful baby girl into the world that day, and I feel joy and gratitude when I think of our birth story. I'm so glad Angela Miller was our midwife.
