I spent more time with the nurse's assistant and the PA student than with the doctor. Dr. Firilas was stand-offish, Indignant, and didn't seem the least bit interested in my IBS challenges (considering I've changed my diet, am on meds to treat it, and have gotten worse over the years with eliminating). He said he would refer me to Pelvic Floor therapy, and that never happened...still waiting on a call from his recommended place for therapy. So to have no follow-through further proves my point, that I wasn't the type of patient that mattered to him. I would never recommend him to any one seeking care for their colorectal/intestinal issues.

I don’t as scheduled for two procedures after the initial appt. I spoke with the scheduling agent multiple times for each procedure which were are different locations. Each procedure required a prep measures. I went to each location and neither place performed the procedures. The first Roper location said they didn’t know how to do the test. The second one was over an hour from my home. And both my husband and I took off work. While I’m the parking lot, I received a call saying that the person doing the procedure was not available and that I should have been notified the day before. Shouldn’t more than one person be available? This is a brief summary of my experiences with Dr Firilas. I spent extensive amounts of time speaking with the office staff to be misdirected for my tests. I drive over an hour to his office and received a bill for services (charges were $300 plus for a visit) that he did not provide. Unfortunately, I cannot give lower than one star for his rating. This is my worse experience ever with a doctor’s office. This is also the only one that I have felt the need to rate and to warn other potential patients. The incompetence was incredibly and I just really felt like crying out of frustration with the preps and time from work to see no positive results.

New patient visit for thrombosed hemorrhoid that was extremely painful. Never asked any of my history... like diarrhea, etc. basically told me to stop applying creams from over the counter and try his pain cream. And refused to cover my missed days at work for my desk job

Saw Firilas for a prolapse (I had lost 12 lbs in 4 weeks, severe pain, protruding, AND history of colon cancer in my family) and after a quick table exam, he gave me 2 options: remove my entire colon, or accept the fact that “if you were ever abused in your lifetime, this is what happens”. What?? Fast forward 2 weeks and thank you Lord for directing me to Dr. Margarita Murphy. She immediately did a colonoscopy and found 1. Tumor on my colon, 2. Cyst on my ovary and 3. Severe rectal prolapse. I was in surgery 2 days later (and that 2 hour surgery turned into a 5 hour surgery). I believe that Dr. Murphy not only improved my quality of life but also saved my life. I absolutely intend on following up and filing a complaint with this doctor’s superiors.

We can highly recommend Dr Firilas. He is an excellent physician and after 14 yrs of inadequate service from other surgeons Dr Firilas has fixed the problem with one surgery. Great bedside manner to boot.

Dr. Firilas was compassionate, professional, and informative. Thanks to Ellen Antognioni, the FMT coordinator I was able to receive the treatment I needed that no one else offers here in Columbia. I will truly be forever grateful! Again, all the staff and Dr. Firilas were extremely compassionate, professional, and informative in every way.
Forever grateful

First impressions were that the office staff was cold. My morning appt ended up being .30min late. Once I saw the Dr, I liked him. Sadly, I was told a specific person would be calling me to schedule a procedure and biopsy for cancer. It's been 4 days. No calls. No replies to the msgs I've left each day. Not happy at all. Have reached out to my GP for a new referral. Don't tell me I may have cancer and then not return my calls!
