When a physician asks a patient a question one would naturally assume that he expects an answer. Dr Shaver did ask the questions but never allowed me to answer him. His focus was totally on his computer for my appointment. He focused not on my kidney failure, massive inflammation, hemolytic anemia, butterfly rash, hypokalemia, or any of several serious symptoms but on my tarsal tunnel syndrome. I still can't figure out how any doctor, let alone a Rheumatologist, could drop the ball so badly. As if his lack of attention to detail wasn't enough, he began "quoting" statistics to me. Maybe it would have benefited him slightly to look at the profession portion of my chart? I am positive that this realization was discovered at about the same time that I recited the correct statistics back to him and asked him to refrain from trying to make himself sound intelligent by by giving me a list of inaccurate numbers. I did not return for a follow up appointment and the rheumatologist I saw for my "2nd" opinion diagnosed me with SLE and Sjogren's. I highly recommend seeing any rheumatologist besides Dr. Timothy Shaver.

A friend of mine was told by his physician at the Mayo Clinic that Dr. Timothy Shaver in Wichita, Ks is one of the best in his field. Dr. Shaver was my mother's doctor. She was in her nineties and very critical of doctors, but she always had a high regard and appreciation for Dr. Tim because of his respect and wonderful care he gave her. Now as my specialist, I have the same opinion as Mom's. He is treating me for a very serious rheumatoid disease and due to his professional knowledge and attention, I am now mobile and functioning well beyond expectation.

I was referred to Dr shaver for my joint pain and fatique. Staff and wait time was excellent and couldn't of been better. I spent about 10 minutes talking with his nurse and as soon as she left the room is when this appointment went sour. I could hear EVERYTHING his nurse was saying to him from outside my room. She basically told him the answers to the questions she had asked me. The way Dr Shaver talked about me to his nurse was extremely rude and inconsiderate. He made it sound like he didn't care AT ALL about me. He let out a big sigh and then walked in my room. I knew as soon as he sighed that this appointment was going to be a waste of time and I was correct. He came in and spent approx. 1-2 mins with me. He kept focusing on my lower back pain which was the least of my worries and symptoms. He said I was too young for RA and he said he needed xrays of my lower back..which couldn't be done at his office. He diagnosed me with some generic arthritis with a check up in 6 months.

Dr. Shaver is a specialist who is very willing to sit and explain things. He is a very busy Doctor, but is willing to take the time to pay attention to my needs and answer my questions. He has ALWAYS remembered me from visit to vist.

Dr. Shaver and his staff are absolutely the best health care professionals I have ever seen. I am a retired medical social worker and have seen many good doctors. Dr. Shaver is far better than good!
