I went to Dr. Ueki for a liver blood panel to determine if my liver could tolerate the 6-month treatment for an inactive TB virus. I have a fatty liver and have to be careful about what meds i take. He got my results and instead of reviewing them with me, he looked at them and said "uh yea, your liver is fine". I know for a fact that it wasn't fine. I wanted to see the results and together with him decide if it was worth the risk of damaging my liver to take the TB treatment. The way he seemed so nonchalant about my results was a red flag for me. It's like someone had asked him if he wanted pickles on his burger. Additionally, I was able to get an appointment right away when I called them and when I arrived, I was the only patient in his office and no others arrived while I was there. Not a good sign.

My sister died from colon cancer because this doctor diagnosed her as having irritable bowel syndrome. When she finally asked the doctor to put her in the hospital because she really felt something was seriously wrong with her, it was too late, her colon cancer had spread everywhere and she died 18 months later. If she had been properly diagnosed years earlier she would be alive today.

The patient was treated by this physician for several years for bowel/intestinal problems which were diagnosed as troublesome but not life threatening. During the last few visits, the patient was accused of having an eating disorder. Days after the last office visit, the patient was examined by hospital staff and after surgery, it was determined that the patient had stage IV cancer and was terminal. The patient died 18 months because of the missed diagnosis of colon cancer.
