Dr. Awalt is a compassionate and patient doctor who asks appropriate questions, listens to the story, and explains (!) her professional perspective to you in ways that you can understand. After being treated by other doctors for months, she was the first to explain what was happening and why they were choosing certain treatment options. She is willing to take the time to walk patients through the information without rushing through it or expressing any kind of frustration that your appointment is taking longer than expected. Sure, I had to wait an extra few minutes for the phone call, but it was very worth the wait and I would happily wait much longer for another appointment with her. Highly recommend Dr. Awalt, and I am obviously not the only one considering the other reviews.

As someone with complex physical and mental health needs, I can confidently say that Dr. Awalt is knowledgeable, sensitive, caring, and does not attribute the issues experienced by her patients solely to their mental health status, which I find many doctors do. She takes the time to explain what she is doing and why and is not afraid to challenge you when necessary. As a physician, she is not afraid to admit when she is out of her depth and has helped me with referrals. I highly recommend her. Any issue I have had with Dal Student Health have not been her fault, but the fault of a faulty health system.

Dr. Awalt is honestly amazing and I love her down-to-earth attitude. She's obviously very capable but seems to have none of the God complex and coldness that I unfortunately see in a lot of doctors.

I have starting seeing Dr. Awalt recently, and she is wonderful. I have a unique case where my vaccination records are not in order because of how much I've moved. She was very empathetic to my situation and did everything she could to help me. Also, I really commend her for having a great ability to connect with patience, she's not robotic or cold, she's warm and caring and you feel like there isn't a divide but that you're working collaboratively with her as the patient. I would highly recommend her as a GP.
