Brilliant surgeon with very good bedside manor. Took the time to explain procedures and process without giving false hope. His PA is one of the smartest and knowledgeable PA I have ever met and takes the time to explain everything and does a phenomenal job of answering any questions. This man and his staff saved my life and I am very greatful.

This surgeon is wonderful, His bedside manner is second to none. The nurses who took care of me in the hospital were the best. Special thank you to Nurse Shelia in the ICU at UAB for all her attention to detail, and staying with me when i was so scared, Definitely would recommed this hospital and this doctor to anyone in the future. Brain surgery is scary and i am grateful to be alive today be cause of them.

Dr. Markert is an excellent neurosurgeon. He is very knowable and kind. He never minded any questions and even though he is very busy, he always stopped and talked with my family. We met in a very bleak situation in the NICU after a car injury. Dr. Markert is a great doctor and I would recommend him to anyone. The only downside is waiting at least 3 hours in his clinic, but it is completely understandable because in addition to his clinic and surgeries, he does research.
