Dr is too overwhelmed by current patient load to seriously see new patients.

I am so very happy and thankful that I found Dr. O'Rourke. I wish to start by saying that I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to share my very positive experience with others, who might be apprehensive about their medical care, as I was.

I have found Dr. O'Rourke to be extremely knowledgeable, and to have a great bedside manner when it came to answering my many questions, and discussing my diagnosis and treatment. She was very thorough, and thoughtful with her answers to my questions. I feel I could not have been in any better care than I was in during this very stressful time in my life. I was uncertain of my ailment, but knew my condition had advanced, based on my symptoms. I had seen other doctors previously, both locally and out of town, who had not been able to effectively treat my symptoms. This was probably due in part to the rare, uncommon nature of my condition. I felt I needed to see a specialist, but was uncertain who to see. After some looking around, I met Dr. O'Rourke. Following some specific tests that she ordered, Dr. O'Rourke diagnosed my condition accurately, and was able to design a treatment plan that not only corrected my problem, but much improved my quality of life. During the early phase of my diagnosis and treatment, she would respond promptly to my emails and questions which meant so much to me. It helped to put me at ease, and made me feel that she really cared about me as a person, and not just as a patient. I can say that as my treatment progressed, this quality of personal care continued.

My surgery was involved, even more involved than originally planned, and thankfully, it had a wonderful outcome. She was able to adjust her treatment, and surgical intervention appropriately, based on the evolving needs of my care. This, in my opinion, is what defines a knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced, specialist. She was able to recognize the extent of my condition, and modify her treatment, when required, to best suit my needs. I am not sure how my future outcome would have been, if I had not met her. I am just very thankful that I did.

I will continue to see her for my follow-up care, and know that if I need further treatment, I will be in good hands with her as my doctor and surgeon. Thank you.

I Had a bad experience with this doctor. She does not listen to your concerns and has bad bedside manners. I traveled 3 hours to go to MUSC to see this doctor. I think MUSC is top notch and incomparable with any other local hospitals in South Carolina, but this doctor does not live up the expectations of this type of hospital. She does not have good bedside manners, she has this attitude. She does not like you to express your concerns as she immediately address the problem as anxiety. I felt my local ENT has a better service.

Would not recommend this physician. She talked down to me and didn't listen to me. When I mentioned a previous condition - she had never heard of it. Did not know the answer to many of my questions. Made me feel small. Once again, pick someone with more compassion and experience.
