My mother is a patient who is in her 70's and be subjected to numerous shock treatments. My mother has received more than the average 7 shock treatments and she cries to me she wants it to stop. Yet this is her treatment. I believe that electroshocking elderly is elder abuse in my opinion. It hurts me to the core to know what my mother is going through. Not all hospitals maintain records but a prescribed treatment of shock without exploring behaviour therapy options is wrong and the ministry should abolish this treatment in the elderly.
