Richard Chan was my family members Dr post stroke. I accompanied them to an appointment after finding out they were struggling to get answers and results. I was stunned by his lack of professionalism. 45 mins late aside his behaviour during the appointment was unbelievable. He hopped up on the exam table and lay back for almost the entire appointment swinging his cowboy boots back and forth like a child. When I brought up the possibility of trying CBD as a pain management option for them, he immediately scoffed at the idea and then proceeded with a line of questioning as tho they were a drug seeker. CBD!! This is an individual who turned down hard pain killers because they didn’t like the high feeling. They were diagnosed with CPSP, chronic post stroke pain. The name says it all……. On top of that we have since learned a good portion of their pain stems from a damaged disc in their back from the fall after the stroke. I vividly recall his questioning during the appointment while making my family member move their body in different ways and he quickly made the assumption that this pain the patient was claiming was made up. By the time we left the appointment I was so frustrated and angry about his attitude. I felt terrible for the intern in the room who had to sit through their superior behaving the way he did. To read the paper later and come to find out why we encountered the behaviour we did was a kick in the teeth. To think my family member was in so much pain only to have it questioned by someone who was taking care of themselves in that regard was devastating. This experience has tainted my faith in medical professionals, scars that to this day carry a lot of weight when it comes to trusting the care and opinions of other medical professionals I encounter. The damage done is forever. It has been years since this terrible experience and yet there’s just no shaking it, given the impact to this day an honest review was warranted. He was wrong in so many ways to act the way he did it’s hard to believe that this is the way my family member was treated. This will haunt me for the rest of my life. I don’t trust doctors anymore, he took that from me.

He was Pescribing himself fentanyl to sell or to give to people for their addiction and for his family to sell and make money. This guy should be in jail not working as a dr. This is pathetic
