Dr Ormsby has been my physician since I moved to Sacramento in 2009. Aside from annual checkups I didn't see him too much. About 6 years ago I began experiencing a lot of pain and started working with him to find out what was wrong. I refuse to take anything other than over the counter pain meds, because I have no intention of developing an addiction to pain meds. After several test he told me I had Fibromyalgia and there wasn't much I could do about it except manage my pain with the help of antiseizure medication and an anti-inflammatory. He prescribed me the medication and I continued to follow-up with him regarding the pain and other possible treatments. During my last phone appointment, I was told there was nothing new available and "he would let me know when there was"(implying that I shouldn't bother him anymore about it). He seemed short tempered and made me feel like I was wasting his time.
Last week I sent a request to be excused from jury duty because I am unable to sit that long without being in severe pain. I got no response to the first request and sent a follow-up about week later. I requested the doctors note through the KP app both times. I received a response back with the following(this is the actual message the only thing changed was my last name in the transcript):
"Hello Mr. *****,
I am sorry that usually you would feel like you are in severe pain. But I do not have an ongoing diagnosis for you that would be severe enough food for you not to serve on jury status."

What? So this doctor who has been treating me for the past 13 years and the last 6 for severe pain is telling me that he doesn't think that I have enough pain to be excused from jury duty. I sent a new message and hopefully he will provide a better response. If you are looking for a new doctor I would advise that you keep looking.
